I am coming to Thailand in June and I am interested in visiting possible new places than I'd normally go to. Typically my favourites on a two or three weeks vacation have been Chang mai, Hua Hin, Udon Thani, Pattaya, spending bout four days to a week in each place.

tried other places like Chang rai, ko samet, phuket, Krabi, few other cities in isaan, Bangkok several times.

I don't care too much for phuket.

Anywhere someone can recommend that they they actually travelled to that they really enjoyed the place.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking recommendations for lesser-known places to visit in Thailand besides the typical tourist destinations. They have already visited popular locations like Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya. Commenters suggest a variety of places including Chiang Rai (known for elephant sanctuaries), Pai, Kanchanaburi (with historical sites and waterfalls), Koh Chang (with various beach options), and Khao Sok National Park. Other mentions include serene islands like Koh Payam and Ko Kut, with multiple users sharing personal experiences and emphasizing the natural beauty and cultural aspects of these destinations.

A buddy of mine had the same low opinion of Krabi. Ao Nang (in Krabi) is a really nice place. What's more Krabi is the gateway to several other places.

I wasn't keen on ao nang. Very touristy and tacky. Beaches were okay though.couldn't even find authentic Thai food. It was all Indian restaurants trying to make Thai food, bit of a joke really.krabi town was better.

I will be in udon 13th June for five days but probably not in Khon Kaen, though sometimes we do mix it up abit and go there instead. Try udon by the lake nong prajak is nice location.I usually do plenty of cycling in udon and walk around lake in morning.

Wherever you go, don't forget to wear your muzzle at all times. Thailand is about to make mask wearing permanent.

chin mask works everytime 🀣

Phuket has been more zealous about it possibly due to the large tourist/expat population. I've not really heard of anyone being fined in Bangkok for not wearing a mask since 2020. You might be told to put one on, but a chin mask definitely works in most cases.

phuket might be different. Bangkok probably different story.

i dont think so i got pulled over a totql of 15 times when riding the motorbike around phuket every time my wife and i didnt have one on and the cops didnt say anything just a licence check. Even alot of police werent wearing them. If you have the mask just around your chin they really dont care as always in thailand the rules are one thing and reality is another 🀣

Koh Chang island, and depending on your age, either White Sand Beach, or Lonely Beach, the backpacker party area. White Sand Beach is real layed back, and from cheap to expensive. From facing the ocean go up the beach to the right, and you will find modest accomodations you won't find anywhere else, and right on the beach. Going the other direction has any price range. White Sand Beach is my favourite vacation spot in Thailand.

You know already much about Thailand and visited a lot, if you talking about islands near krabi I love Hong and phi phi islands.

If you are in Bangkok, try to visit England look a like one area named Pickadaily Bangkok community mall located on On Nut Road, Sukhumvit Soi 77.

Enjoy your vacation.

Cheow Larn lake floating huts at Khao Sok! Panvaree/The Greenery! It's an "off the grid" experience. Awesome though!

We have been twice, once on the lake itself, but can't remember the name, and the 2nd time at a place close by but not on the lake. Both were amazing.

Never take an elephant ride, you should know that THE UPPER PART OF THEIR SPINE LOOKS MORE LIKE A FISH BONE THAN COMMON VERTEBRA, SO ALL WEIGHT ON AN ELEPHANT'S BACK IS ON THE END OF THESE " EDGES ".

YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER GET ON YOUR BACK AND BE ALL AGAINST HARMFUL CARPETS THAT CARRY UNINFORMED TOURISTS.

THE MAHOUTS RAISE ON THE NECKS OF ELEPHANTS TO TAKE THEM INTO THE JUNGLE, THIS PLACE IS NOT SENSITIVE.

Speak French, English and Thai

Enjoy your trip πŸ™
