Is my plan for entering Thailand on a Non-O visa and applying for an extension reasonable?

I hope someone can check over my plan and tell me if I have missed any steps. I appreciate any help, always happy to learn.

-I have Non O in hand, fly in 15/7, do I ask for single entry to be changed to multi entry at the airport when I arrive?

-Get short term accommodation and get a TM 30 form completed,

-See an agent in Hua Hin (Suggestions welcome) for help with opening 2 bank accounts and planning extension application.

-Deposit 800,000b in one account and set up monthly income transfer in to the other.

-Go back 15 days before Non O expiry date and apply for extension.

Do I have a reasonable plan?

Not sure why you would need an agent to open a bank account for you.

Opening bank account is not difficult, get a copy of the TM30 receipt from your hotel, get a residence certificate from the immigration office that serves where you live, get a Thai SIM card registered against your passport and then visit the bank to open an account. Transfer your funds then wait until they have been in your account for 2 months then apply for the 12 month extension of stay. Pick up the list of requirements for the extension when at immigration to get the residence certificate.

Thanks for posting this.  Helps me get my head around it.  A question for anyone reading, do I need to have 800,000 in the bank AND a monthly transfer?   I have been advised that Australians can't use the monthly method and can only do the 800,000.   If this the case can I dispense with monthly transfers?

You cannot get any re-entry permit at the airport on entry, you get your multi entry re-entry permit from Immigration after your 800k has seasoned for 2 months and your extension is inked in. Why do you think you need an agent?
