Hi, hoping for advice please: out in Pattaya this evening and my husband is 99% sure he's left his phone in the taxi. We have no idea if it is worth the hassle of reporting cos we just got in a taxi at end of soi 6. No idea of the driver/car/id etc. Totally a lost cause or worth reporting to police? It's only the first day of holiday too ππ€¦π½ββοΈππΌ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice on whether to report a lost phone left in a taxi in Pattaya. Community members provide various suggestions, including contacting the tourist police for assistance, trying to call the phone, asking taxi drivers in the area, and the likelihood of recovery in Thailand due to a reputation for honesty. Overall, the consensus is to report the loss to the police and to actively seek help from local taxi services.
Mostly honest people here in Thailand. Report it, search for it.

He probably doesnβt have a Thai SIM card

I think Thai people are hugely honest. Its possible the taxi driver reports it to the police.

A good reason to use Bolt as the Taxi details are available? I left mine in a taxi and called my phone and the driver returned it tome the next day. I gave the driver a good tip for returning, not for the worth of the phone but the information I have stored.

Should have called the Cab Company as soon as it happened, probably too late now

A good chance you will get it back if the driver realises it is there. A lot will depend on their next hire.π€·

It absolutely is worth the hassle.
Thais are extremely honest people, your chances to get your phone back are still there.
First, report the case to the Police.
Second, try to go back to the place you took your taxi from, or contact the company to tell the story. If you go there , tell any taxi driver your story. They all know each other as they all work in specific areas, so they might be able to help.

I see someone that did the same , told police and within 20 the persons belongings were returned to the roadside were they were waiting. So I would report to police and try to contact the taxi companies . Good luck π

Then go and pick it up

Use your find my phone app

Go back to the area you picked up the taxi . They work specific areas . Ask the taxi drivers that also work in that same area , they all know each other

Android also can locate your phone. Think the service is find my phone, then log into your Google account

You'll likely require a police report to claim on insurance anyway
what phone is it? If itβs an iPhone, log in to his icloud from a web browser on your phone or a computer. Youβll be able to see where the phone is. Other phones have that tracker as well but not all. You can call the phone with that, post a message to the screen with a number for them to call or a place to meet and return the phone.
