I just read the entry requirements for Thailand. Am I misinterpreting them...does everyone need to be vaccinated or do you have a choice to go to the Sandbox for quarantine?

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, vaccinated travelers can enter through the Phuket Sandbox program, which allows them to avoid quarantine but requires them to stay in Phuket for 14 days. In contrast, unvaccinated travelers must enter through Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) which entails a longer confinement period. While some areas may have limited access to activities due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Sandbox option is primarily utilized by long-term residents returning to their families.

You have a choice. For the Phuket sandbox you need both vaccinations.

no restaurants open in bangkok / pattaya / rayong . Beaches are closed and patrolled with over zealous whistles .. some beaches are barricaded shutโฆ not much point in a holiday here - maybe better in other areas

Brian Roberts. It's really just being used by longstayers who wish to return to wives, girlfriends, children, homes etc, without having to endure the 15 days confined to ASQ. There's no real magnet for pure tourists
disagree. I am spending some great time with my family in a beautiful setting. Few people and enough restaurants open to keep us fed.

Sandbox, fully vaccinated. ALQ, vaccination not required.

Sandbox means you don't have to quarantine, although you do have to remain for 14 days in Phuket (in pre-covid days probably not a bad thing, but at the moment most fun things in Phuket are closed).
