Is it possible to obtain a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from Kuala Lumpur for non-PR Americans?

New data point to consider? So one of my friends just informed me that his buddy (an American, not a PR of Malaysia) just got an METV from KL two weeks ago. Now I understand that the general consensus is that METVs are not available in SE Asia (the closest available one is from the consulate/embassy in Australia). After reading this page on Tourist Visa from the Thai embassy in KL ([members only]), I can't find anything to support the general consensus that you can't do it. In fact, it seems as long as you are from a "non-listed country" and have the supporting documents, an METV is possible. What gives?

TLDR : Answer Summary
There seems to be conflicting information about whether Americans can obtain a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from the Thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur. Some users have reported recent successes, while others claim that non-permanent residents (non-PR) are no longer being issued METVs due to policy changes. There is uncertainty in the community regarding the current status of METV availability, with requests for verification through additional documentation.

Until someone actually posts a picture of an METV from Kuala Lumpur issued later than Feb 22 I'm weighing in that they stopped issuing them.

Hi
@Mick ****
someone posted on the 22nd Feb that he was refused a METV from Kuala Lumpur. He was informed they would no longer issue these visas to non PR, due to new rules. If you use the search bar for the group using 'Malaysia' its a few posts down - the post starts "UPDATE ... ". It could be that the rules have changed again but, as far as group posts go, that's the last confirmation I've seen re: METV in KL.

We had reports from members who got one and we had reports of members being refused. I would like to see a copy of the METV without the privacy details of the buddy of your friend.

Simply the proof that is happen and that it is available. Just by typing it could after the last posts that it can not happen sound strange especially if you talk about a buddy of a friend.

I understand. Robert, what info are you hoping to glean from the image? I want to make sure he omits covering up any pertinent info, if this person does supply an image. Or are you simply looking for proof that it did happen two weeks ago and that it was an METV from KL?
Robert *******
That is the problem if you state that a buddy of a friend. It is hearsay and without proof it did not happen.

Ah, interesting, I didn't realize there had been reports from members who did get an METV. I'll have to see if it's possible to get an image of the METV. May be tricky as I don't know this person. Thanks Robert.
