New data point to consider? So one of my friends just informed me that his buddy (an American, not a PR of Malaysia) just got an METV from KL two weeks ago. Now I understand that the general consensus is that METVs are not available in SE Asia (the closest available one is from the consulate/embassy in Australia). After reading this page on Tourist Visa from the Thai embassy in KL ([members only]), I can't find anything to support the general consensus that you can't do it. In fact, it seems as long as you are from a "non-listed country" and have the supporting documents, an METV is possible. What gives?
TLDR : Answer Summary
There seems to be conflicting information about whether Americans can obtain a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from the Thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur. Some users have reported recent successes, while others claim that non-permanent residents (non-PR) are no longer being issued METVs due to policy changes. There is uncertainty in the community regarding the current status of METV availability, with requests for verification through additional documentation.
