Can my husband obtain a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for Thailand in Southeast Asia?

Issue a Tourist (TR) multiple entry visa:

Hi everyone, my husband wishes to issue a tourist multiple entry visa (holds an Austrian passport). We are currently in Thailand and he is looking for an optional country to exist to:

1. In the Thai consulate website of Vietnam and Cambodia it didn't mention the option of multiple entry (only single) and we can't reach them- do you know if it's possible to issue a multiple there?

1. In the Singapore website it says application should be sent at least 2 weeks before entering Thailand- but my husband doesn't have the time and needs to issue it by this week (leaving probably tomorrow..)

We would appreciate your kind recommendations regarding the questions..

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that your husband cannot obtain a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in Southeast Asia, especially since he is an Austrian citizen. He must return to Austria or his registered residence to apply for an METV, as the consulates in neighboring countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos only issue Single Entry Tourist Visas. Some comments suggest checking in Vientiane, Laos, as there were claims of receiving an METV there, but generally, the advice is to apply from the home country.

Yup Singapore takes 2 weeks. I just did it (single entry though, multiple isn't possible)

. . . as an Austrian citizen, you can get a multi entry Tourist Visa only in the country where you have your registered residence. Or in the home country of your citizenship. You CANNOT get a multi entry Tourist Visa in ANY of Thailands neighbor countries. . . . . . . . . all you can get issued in Thailand's neighbor countries is a "Single Entry 60-days Tourist Visa". On most of the Thai embassies and consulates, you will need to make an appointment first. The only walk-in Thai embassy is the consulate in Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh City

No embassy or consulate in SE Asia will issue an METV unless you hold legal residence in that country. They’ll issue a SETV only. Have to return to your home country to get an METV.

I take any bet he is confusing his single entry Tourist Visa from the Thai embassy Vientiane with a multi entry category

Maybe so, but, doesn't change the fact that they do issue metv's in Lao (unless the Austrian passport holder har PR in Lao). 😛

You can only get a multiple entry tourist visa from your home country. So your husband can either go to a nearby consulate and get a single entry tourist visa, or return to Austria and apply for the multiple entry tourist visa.
