Has anyone got a METV outside their home country (where you are registered)? If yes, from where? I know you could get it only from your home country, but things change..Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for Thailand from countries other than the applicant's home country. Several users report successful applications from locations such as the UK, Australia, and Austria, noting some consulates have stipulated a residency requirement while others do not. There's mention of the Thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur being more flexible in issuing METVs without requiring residency, compared to others in Southeast Asia. Users are seeking concrete confirmation about METV issuance policies from various countries, including Laos and Vietnam.

The thai consulates set up their own criteria as far as issuing 6 month METV's. Most have the clause that you must be a resident of the country for the consulate you're applying in, which negates people from pulling them from most S/E Asian consulates.

Australia does not have this restriction and many people have gotten 6 month METV's from consulates there.

There are also reports that the thai consulate in KL does not have the residence restriction and one poster a while back said they'd gotten one from there by showing multiple tickets in and out of thailand and the need for a 6 month METV. I have never physically seen a 6 month METV issued from KL in person though, so your mileage may vary/

I have gotten mine in Vienna Austria Europe with a Canadian Passport. I'm also interested in confirmation of what countries will allow non-residents to apply for an METV, more specifically on reports from Laos, Vietnam, Bali embassies. Not hear say but actual confirmation of denial or approval. For self, not a "friend".

Are you a resident of Austria (austrian id) by any chance?

No, but I can confirm that it is possible in Australia as I've discussed this directly with the Hon. Thai Consular General for Queensland (he's an old friend). For memory (the conversation was nearly a year ago, may have changed) Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth were offering it BUT you must have a visa into Australia to apply (not the local equivalent if a visa exempt). I have read elsewhere since that a visa is no longer required but not sure.
