Does anyone know which (if any) Thai consulates in the US still issue a 6-month METV for US passport holders? I know the honorary consulate generals in Texas do not do them as of 2016, and I looked at the embassy websites for Washington DC and Chicago and all I could find were 60-day METV requirements. Is a 60-day METV (plus 30-day extension) the only option now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the availability of a 6-month Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for US passport holders at various Thai consulates in the US. The conversation highlights that multiple consulates, namely those in Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and Los Angeles, still issue the 6-month METV, while several honorary consulates no longer do so. There is clarification that the 60-day METV is a different visa type and not the focus of the query.
Also, at one point I had called the DC consulate and could never get a real-life person to answer the phone. When I called Chicago they asked where I lived and when I said Texas they said I had to go to the consulate in Houston and that they (the Chicago consulate) couldn’t process a visa for me since I wasn’t in their area. Surely any consulate in the US would process visas for any American citizen, but he basically cut me off and hung up on me after I said the Texas part.
You do not have to travel to get the METV -- at least not for the consulate in LA. Just send the required paperwork and your passport along with a self-addressed and paid return envelope (FedEx/UPS/USPS take your pick) and allow up to two weeks for processing, though mine only took a couple of days back in December. The LA visa office is aces.
the paperwork is still the same...I have already stated which consulates issue the metv...any more information just do your own due diligence inquiries by google and phone calls
Thanks! I’m not trying to be too picky, but this article is dated in May 2016 and (at least in TX) the consulates no longer issued these visas as of August 2016. So I realize this used to be a fairly common option and I’m just trying to double check since the official websites make no mention of it and it would be a shame to travel from TX to DC or NY to realize I’m working off of outdated info.
