Answer summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of using funds held in cryptocurrency, rather than traditional bank accounts, to qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. The community responses emphasize that funds must be in a bank account, typically showing a balance of at least 500,000 baht for a minimum period, often around three months. Suggestions include converting cryptocurrency to fiat currency and depositing it into a bank account prior to application. Furthermore, users discuss alternative visa options, such as the Thailand Privilege Visa, and the importance of verifying income and account status to meet visa criteria.

i think you need 1 million usd to get a Thailand privilege visa and that need to be in a traditional fiat bank.

i don't think this is an accurate statement, 1M USD us not a requirement for the Thailand Privilege / elite visa. Happy to be proven otherwise if you have a source.

No, I can imagine that, but sometimes when banks or other authorities around the world want to see proof of a person's finances, reality can catch up....

Thank you for all the comments 👌. im in england at the moment im just thinking about going there on a tourist visa because i want to pay for the thai language class up front i dont like sending money to a business that i have never visited before so im thinking about doing the tourist visa thing and then extending for another 30days or 60 days and in that time i will look around for a visa agency in Thailand because there are loads out there and i will see what they say. Do any of you think that is a good idear??

note that you won't be able to get a DTV based on Thai language classes as it's not a soft-power activity.

Correct ✅ but there are combination of Thai language study and Thai Culture study which does qualify for the DTV visa as a soft power activity.

Crypto wallet won't work, funds need to be in a bank account. As for how long do you have to show you've had the funds for, I think that kinda depends on where you're applying from. I got my DTV in Japan and just needed to get a special document in English which showed my bank balance. I could have had the funds in my account for 10 months or 10 minutes, it wouldn't have made a difference. Though I think the general rule is that you should be able to show that you've had the money in the account for at least 3 months, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

If I were you, I'd talk to a visa agent at first. Mark at One Stop Visa on Soi 6 Pattaya is pretty 'creative' I'd say

Just put the funds in a bank account you don’t need to prove it’s been there for 3 months just need the statements showing you use that account and that there is 500k in there. I put my funds in my account 3 weeks before I got my visa when first came out.

HMC but that’s when it took only 7 days to get approved there too so it could have changed.

Funds will need to be in a bank account.

You will not be able to use your Crypto account for the 500k evidence. Sell and transfer funds to your bank account then apply. Where are you applying? Funds will need to be seasoned for 3 mths in general, 10 days if applying from London.

My understanding is that the fund needs to be in your account in your name - generally sitting in the bank in savings of everyday account for the last 3 months (minimum). You need to proof that you either have a remote work status if you’re going to be applying for a workcation or freelance position. Otherwise you can apply with a soft power but I believe the immigration officers are scrutinising about that now. But correct me if I’m wrong.
