I will be applying to extend my visa for retirement purposes shortly and will have 11 months left on my British passport. Is this acceptable? I will be getting a new passport in December or January. The info I have found so far indicates that 6 months or more is required, which I will have. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the acceptability of applying for a retirement visa extension in Thailand with 11 months remaining on their British passport, as they plan to renew it shortly. The response highlights that having 6 months left is generally required, but applying for an extension less than 12 months before the passport expires means the extension will be limited to the passport's expiration date, resulting in a loss of the unused time. The user acknowledges this advice and states they will adjust their future application timing.

thanks, as it will only be a month short of my usual date for extension, that's not a problem. Just have to apply for the extension a month earlier in future!
Sadly for you, that information is 100% not correct ๐ฎ
IF you apply for a year extension on a passport that won't be valid for the whole year extension you would get, you only get the extension up to the expiration date of the passport ๐
AND
When you get a new passport you don't get that time you were shorted on your extension back (you lost that time) ๐
