Can I extend my visa with a passport that has just under 6 months until expiration?

Hi all, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I entered on a TR and I’m on a covid extension valid until mar 9th. I made the mistake of assuming passports from my embassy would be created here. After pre-paying for the passport renewal I was then informed by my embassy that the passports are created in Canada then shipped, and will take a minimum of 20 working days to arrive, which puts me past my covid extension expiry date, and my passport has hit the 6 month expiry today. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get another extension of some sort if a passport is just past the 6 months to expiration date, or am I looking at an emergency trip back to Canada?

*edited for clarification. My passport has just under 6 months until expiration.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is in a situation where their passport has just expired and they are on a Covid extension that will end soon. They previously misunderstood the validity requirement of their passport for visa extensions. Multiple comments clarify that the 6-month validity rule applies primarily when obtaining a visa while abroad, not when applying for an extension from within Thailand. As long as the passport is valid at the time of extension application, the user can apply for another 60-day Covid extension while waiting for their passport renewal.

okay lets sort out the TOTALLY FALSE misconception that the O/P has and that is that he needs 6 months left on his passport to get another extension 🙁

The rule is you need 6 months on your passport at most thai consulates in other countries to BUY A VISA.

There is no amount of time you need left on your passport to get an extension once you're INSIDE the country. IF for some reason your passport was expiring before the total number of days you'd get on an extension you'd just get stamped until the expiration date of the passport.

You have SIX months left on a passport and you want to get a 60 DAY extension, you're fine.

Go apply for another 60 day covid extension and you'll be fine while you wait for your new passport to show up

You are at the moment at Covid Extension (Based on unable to travel) and you like to get another one based on applying for a new passport?

You better have a plan B as your passport is valid and can be used to travel back home.

The 6 month thing is only relevant when entering the country. If your passport is valid when you go for an extension, they will stamp you in up until the expiration date of the passport, but you don't need 6 months left to apply for an extension.
