DTV VISA EXPERIENCE JAKARTA — QUESTION ABOOT NEW PASSPORT

I got my dtv visa today in Jakarta. Super easy process. Applied on Monday with medical reason and got it today. Now on the plain to Bangkok.

However my passport is almost full and they also wrote on my visa that it expires within the 5 years (2027), but I probably need a new passport already early 2025. Does anyone has any experience with this? Do you travel with your old and new passport and can that give any problems?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully obtained their DTV visa in Jakarta and is concerned about their current passport being nearly full, given that the visa is valid until 2027. They ask about the process for traveling with both their old and new passports, as they anticipate needing a new passport by early 2025. Comments from the community suggest that travelers can carry both passports while the visa is valid, and advise visiting immigration to update the records and transfer any stamps from the old passport to the new one.

When you get your new passport, just go to immigration and they'll update their records and transfer stamps over.

Er not so. A visa sticker nor the PDF file will get transferred to a new passport.

I suspect you had a “extension of stay” stamp issued from a local immigration office. That stamp can be transferred. Completely different from an actual visa sticker or pdf file.

The only ones that they will transfer or update are the Elite/privilege visa.

Anonymous participant Yes you travel with both old and new passports. Show the immigration officer your visa in your old passport and they’ll stamp you in on your new passport.

Anonymous participant to the local immigration office where you're staying. When I got a new passport, I actually paid an agent to do this. I don't usually pay an agent. They took both my passports down and had the immigration office take care of it.
