when staying in hotels, is it my responsibility to have copies of TM 30 on me and ask the hotel manager to sign it each time I check in? Some places dont even ask for everyone's passport. Also, has anyone had experience getting TR Visa exemption stamp extended in Ayuttaya before? Do you recommend just going to BKK for it? Thanks so much! (edit: typo)
Update: Lesson learned- if no hotel in the city of the visa office submitted your TM30 by the time you want an extension, you will not be allowed to submit TM7 to extend your visa (at least the TR/TR exempt) for 30 days - at least in Ayutthaya. The staff also said we would also save time if we had at least a copy of TM30 (we should have asked for it from hotels when they submit it)
TLDR : Answer Summary
When checking into hotels in Thailand, it's generally the hotel's responsibility to manage TM 30 forms, and guests should not need to carry copies. However, some hotels may not request all passports, which can lead to confusion. To extend a TR Visa exemption stamp, it's necessary to ensure a TM 30 has been submitted by the hotel; otherwise, the extension request may be denied, particularly noted in Ayutthaya. Visiting a larger immigration office in Bangkok may be a recommended alternative for filing the extension.
