The first 60 day period of my METV visa expire 12/22. I’m about to cross the border into Laos. Do I have to re-enter Thailand before 12/22 to get the 60 day extension? What happens if I re-enter after the stamp is expired? Sorry if this is a repetitive question or the answer is common sense, I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking anything. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your METV visa, you need to re-enter Thailand before the 'enter before' date on your visa sticker. If you re-enter after this date, you may still receive 60 days as long as you enter before the expiration of your last 60 days. Additionally, you can apply for a 30-day extension at an Immigration office before your current visa expires for a fee of 1,900 THB.

Said another way - you leave Thailand (stamp out) stay for as long as you wish - Reenter before the Enter Before Date.

No, any time you re-enter within the "enter before date" on your visa sticker, you will get 60 days.

When your last 60 days are going to expire, even if your enter before date is past, you can get a further 30 day extension at any Immigration office (1,900 thb)

Yes. You do not need to enter before the 'stamp' runs out. When you enter after it runs out you get a new 'stamp' for another 60 days which can be further extended for 30 days at immigration inside the Kingdom.

Yes — I wasn’t asking about the “use by” date, I specified that I’m asking about my stamp

The sticker is the visa, rubber stamp is permission to stay.

You 60 day happens when you re-enter before the 'Enter Before' date on your VISA. Visa and permission to stay are two totally different things.
