What should I do about my METV expiration and extension while traveling to the USA?

Ok weird question x 2

I'm currently on an METV which expires on July 23rd.

My last entry gave me 60 days which expired today (so I'm late for extension as of today - my oversight)

I have 2 questions:

I leave to go the USA for 10 days on July 7th.

Which means I arrive back on July 19th - 4 days before my METV expires.

Question 1.

What's the best way to do an extension for my time between now and leaving on the 7th?

Question 2.

What are my chances of getting accepted for another 60 days entry on the 19th?

Update - I am based in Bangkok so I can just go to a visa office for extension (didn't include this in original)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their current METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) before leaving for the USA and the chances of getting a new entry upon returning. They seek advice on the best approach to handle the visa extension before their trip and the likelihood of receiving another 60-day stamp upon re-entry into Thailand.

@Tr**
, Surprisingly, it's because many, MANY people mistakenly think that IF they apply early the extension starts from the day they apply NOT from the day their current stamp expires :O
Troy *********
why do people leave their extensions until the very last day?
Tod *********
I see they did stamp fine waived because they were closed ;)

ผ่อนผันค่าปรับวันหยุดราชการ :) Don't worry, that stamp doesn't mean anything :P

The way the METV works is; it's good for unlimited entries into the country for the validity of the visa itself <- the "enter before" date on it.

If you enter the country before that date you'll get stamped in for 60 days because that's the amount of time you always get stamping in on that visa. It doesn't matter if once you get the 60 day stamp the visa itself expires and you can still get a 30 day extension on that last 60 day admitted until stamp too.

@T**
interesting.....I'm not sure it's worth the fooking around and 1900 baht when the yearly is 5000 baht....good to know though.

@Tr**
, yep (y) there is a 60 day "visit family" extension that you can apply for.
Troy *********
@Tod ********
huh? I've never heard of that one....Can I extend my current 90 days to a further 60 days?
Tod *********
@Troy ********
don't forget after that to do the 60 day "visit family" extension which takes you to 17 months :O No financials needed at the immigration office either ;)
Troy *********
Yeah I just got my final 90 days on my non o making it a total of 15 months
Troy *********
Interesting......so you can overstay a METV and the visa will still be vaild?
Troy *********
@Cameron **********
That's exactly what everyone should do to get 9 months out of the visa.
Troy *********
No, Tod got what I was laying down.

i think he meant that when the METV expires (ie as mine does on July 23rd) that you can still stay for 60 days + 30 even if you only arrived on your last entry say the day before it expired
Tod *********
you can overstay on an "admitted until" stamp on an METV (the stamp that gets you in for 60 days) BUT that doesn't invalidate the visa itself

Chiang Wattana or wherever the nearest Immigration office is to do an extention. Or even a border run if that is more convenient. Q2 100% Your METV is still valid for entry on 19-7 so you will get 60 days no questions asked.

IF your current admitted until stamp (the one for 60 days) expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go to the very next day they're open to get a 30 day extension you will NOT be charged the 500 baht for overstay, but you will get an "overstay fine waived" stamp in your passport AND you'll get your 30 day extension too.

Cameron Gallagher Sorry, yeah was talking about your current entry :) In any case, you re-enter on 19-7, get 60 days and you will be able to extend that for another 30 days @ 1900 baht.

Jacco van Gent oh got ya yeah I wasn't sure if you meant for the next one or this one - got that for sure thanks mate. Really appreciate your help.
Jacco ***********
well, you said that your current entry is expired today, so go to immigration tomorrow, they will extend your entry with 30 days for 1900 baht and charge you 500 baht for one day overstay

@Jacco **********
Can you clarify the overstay/early extension element here?
Jacco ***********
as long as you enter before the use before date, you will get 60 days and yes you can extend that entry for another 30 days if you wish. However now you would be on overstay, so extend your current entry as soon as possible.

Magic mate - so I basically am good for 30 days extension right now makes sense. I had a hesitation because that went over the visa date but it makes sense.

So what about the next entry - once 60 days is up can I extend that for 30 in country as well? Regardless of the visa being expired?
