Hello everyone. I arrived end of Dec on a single-entry non-O with 90 days validity for the first time. I'm about to leave Thailand again. Can I get advice on whether I need to renew my visa, and how? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user entered Thailand on a single-entry Non-O visa valid for 90 days, which has now expired as they are set to leave the country. It is advised that since the visa was not extended during the stay, they will need to apply for a new Non-O visa upon re-entry into Thailand. The option to extend the Non-O visa was mentioned but not pursued, indicating they will need to start the process again when they return.

Okay, we have sorted this out. The O/P came into the country on a single entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai and they got a 90 day entry stamp.

They are NOT prepared to meet the proof of funds to get a year extension, will they be in the country to wait out the 30 day under consideration stamp they'd get for an extension based on marriage even if they were able to meet the proof of funds.

At this time they are leaving before their 90 day stamp runs out and when they stamp out they're done this time.

They will get a new Non-O single entry visa before they come back to the country and then deal with getting the year extension.

That is about all that can be said so we're done people, thanx one and all (y)

what was the reason you got the Non-O visa that you used to enter the country on this time? Was it based on marriage to a thai, being over 50 (retirement) or what?

hi Tod

It was marriage with a Thai

As James said, IF you didn't apply for a yearly extension of stay the visa you're on is done, it was a single entry meaning as soon as you entered it was stamped used and you were given 90 days <- during that time you should have meet the requirements to get a yearly extension and went to the immigration office to apply for one. IF you didn't do that, you would need to get a new visa before you enter.

thank you for your help! This is exactly what I'm asking about. I heard that in order to get a single-entry visa to become multi-entry I simply apply at the airport on my way out. What are the processes to extend my 90 day into a year-long one?

@M ****
nope that is NOT how you make a single entry visa a multi-entry one.

You BOUGHT a single entry visa before you came here, when you stamped in that visa was marked used and it's done. What let's you be IN thailand is the tiny red 90 day entry stamp you got when they stamped you in.

What that means IS if you don't apply for a yearly extension BEFORE you leave the country, when you stamp out you're done and will need to buy a new visa and start over

Back in 2019 you said you were about to Marry a Thai.

Did you?

And are you now on a Non O as married to Thai and you are on its initial 90 days and have not extended it ???

@James *******
yes that is correct. I'm trying to see if there is a way I can save some money by not having to get a new visa and simply extend my current one and get it to become multi entry.

Non O's used to be year-long, weren't they? I am not sure why validity is so short now

I don't know what is the process of this and therefore I'm asking here. I've been hearing conflicting advice as well

@M ****
in the past did you ever go to Vietnam or Laos Thai Embassy to get a one year Non O multientry visa based on marriage to a Thai ?

I'm indeed paying close attention. As it's my first time please bear with me. I'm not even sure how the extension can be done

meet the financial requirements and you will get a one year extension of stay....as always has been.

Visit your Thai immigration office with your Thai wife...ask for their current list of requirements for the one year extension.

Deposit 400,000 in a Thai bank in your name only and apply for the one year extension.

When granted apply for a one year multientry permit...3,800 Thai baht.

IF added time is needed...

Apply for the family visit 60 day extension with proof of marriage to Thai...granted one time only per entry into Thailand.

Unless you have already extended the Non O that you entered on...when you leave its done. You will have to start all over to get it again when you decide to enter Thailand once again.
