What should I do if I've lost my 90-day report slip while trying to get a driving license in Thailand?

I was on an 1 year extension based on a marriage visa from 2019. However I left Thailand to go back to the UK at the end of 2021 I think I had about 3 months left, but I decided I'd just get another married visa and start the process again when I returned. so I came back to Thailand in January and then later applied for an extension based on having a Thai wife. Everything seemed to go smoothly and I checked my passport and all the dates were correct, so I left immigration. However when I got home I noticed that instead of putting in the small bit of paper that tells you your next 90 day report, they'd put in one from the previous visa. I didn't think this was an issue but I've just tried to get a resident letter at immigration today so I can get a driving license and they said I need that bit of paper that says when my next 90 day report should be and as I don't have it they can't give me the resident letter and also told me I need to go to the police and tell them I've lost the bit of paper before I do my 90 days. I would like a driving license but I am kind of stumped, I guess I have to go to a police station and get a report then wait 2.5 months until my 90 days before I apply for a driving license.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user returned to Thailand after a trip and applied for a visa extension based on marriage. Upon checking, they discovered they received an old 90-day report slip instead of a new one for their current extension. Now, they need that slip to obtain a residence certificate for a driving license, but don't have it. Comments suggest that the user should ask for a 90-day report instead of the residency certificate, as it's possible to get the correct slip printed out. They also clarified that the absence of the report doesn't constitute a loss, and they may need to check their immigration status based on the last entry stamp.

Also just a bit of extra context, I tried to get a driving license 2 years ago. Got all the paperwork together including the residence cert and on that day all the driving license offices closed because of Covid. I thought getting a car might be a little pointless in the middle of a pandemic so I put it off until now. But I guess I'll just have to wait until I do my next 90 day report or go to the British Embassy again and get it there.

When you left the country and came back your 90 day report started over, so you don't have the receipt yet telling you when to come back. It sounds like you also entered the country on either a tourist visa, or a visa exempt stamp, so they don't put the little piece of paper letting you know when to come in for your first 90 day report as you would get if you came in on a type O visa, or other long term extension. You can also get a notarized residency letter from your embassy anytime, but at a price. Also, you didn't lose you 90 day report receipt so the police can't help you. They will look at your last entry stamp, and tell you that 90 days haven't been reached yet

Maybe I wasn't clear, when I left i had 3 months on a 1 year extension. I was out of the country for 5 months therefore it ran out when I was out of the country. I then returned on a new 90 day married visa. And after 2 months I applied for the 1 year extension, 400k in the bank etc etc. That was fine, but they didn't give me the invite slip that tells you when to return for the 90 days they instead gave me the one from the previous 1 year extension that was as you say invalid as I had already left the country. I know the police can't do anything they're only asking for me to go to the police seemingly for their records not mine.

that 90 day slip you are talking about in this case is simply a courtesy, not a requirement on their part, and it is not a 90 day report receipt, so it has no relevancy to your residency certificate. When you applied for your extension, if your first 90 days was within 15 days they would have processed your first 90 day report. As it was longer than that they didn't. I went through a very similar thing last October

yes that's exactly what I don't understand, the slip doesn't even have a code (like T.M 6) it's just a square bit of paper that they forgot to put in my passport to remind me of when my next 90 day is. But they refused to process the residence cert without it and told me I had to report that I've lost it to the police. I am totally confused.

I think they are giving you the runaround for some reason. Your next 90 day report will be 90 days from when you applied for your extension, it's on their system and they can easily print you out another slip if they want. Perhaps try again and instead of asking for a residence certificate first, perhaps just say that you've come to do a 90 day report,. They will probably then tell you that you are early, print off the slip with the date for you and send you on your way. Then come back with the slip and ask for a residence cert

your 90 day report is due 90 days after you enter the country, not 90 days after you apply for your extension.

yes it's the missing slip that's the issue. I can do maths, I know when I have to do my 90 days. The problem is I can't get a resident certificate without the slip and they don't want to give me a new slip.

this is true but everytime I do my annual extension, they put a new slip on my passport with a date of 90 days from the application to report the next 90 days. I believe that applying for the extension resets the 90 days, or atleast that has been my experience over the past few years

so after I got rejected at the residence cert counter, I think B1 we went to the 90 days counter and asked them and they said that I'd have to go to the police station and report it missing, they did kindly tell me the date when my 90 days was due, but wouldn't give me a the paper. After that we just gave up and went home.
