Is it acceptable to state my intention to stay longer with family when applying for a tourist visa extension in Thailand?

I visited Thailand every 6 months for 1 month stay in last 18 years. Now I am first time applying for the 60 day tourist visa and will try to get extension to stay with my family. I am going to stay in my girlfriend house. My question is, if questioned on immigration on arrival or while applying for extension it is ok to say that I want to stay longer with my family? Or it is better just claim tourist purposes. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user who has been visiting Thailand every six months for years is applying for a 60-day tourist visa for the first time and planning to stay with their girlfriend. They are unsure if they should state family reasons for extending their visa or simply claim tourist purposes. Responses suggest that since they are applying for a tourist visa, they should identify as a tourist, especially since extensions on such visas are typically granted for tourist reasons. However, if they have legitimate proof of being a father to a Thai child, they might qualify for a family visit extension. The TM30 form is also crucial for residency proof when applying for the extension.

They won't question you until you've done this several times. You never get questioned at immigration when doing a 30 day extension. Just make sure you have a tm30. They'll scam you for 1600 baht if you don't have one. They say it's a landlords responsibility to submit for a tm30 yet they fine us on the spot telling us to be reimbursed by the landlord. A genuine immigration would mail the fine to the landlord. It's a sneaky horrible scam this one but of course easily avoided as long as you make sure it's done. Good luck

You can write there whatever you want. I wrote when I applied for an extension in Bangkok that I am thinking about applying for another language course. They did not care

You are applying for a tourist visa. So you are visiting Thailand as a tourist.

When you want to extend it, you are extending a tourist visa, so you are still a tourist.

When you go for the extention you have to take along a TM30 form, to proof where you are staying. Your girlfriend must apply online for the TM30 and give you a copy. If you are staying with her from the beginning she has to do the TM30 within 24 hours if your arrival.

when you enter Thailand on a 60-days single entry Tourist Visa, you will get stamped in for a 60-days stay permit as a tourist. These 60 days you can extend once, for 1900.- THB on Immigration for 30 more days (it is called "30-days touristic extension"). And then you will have to leave Thailand before the 90th day is over by midnight. You cannot get any "extension based on visiting my girlfriend", there is nothing such

yes I understand. What i meant, as I never apply for extension, if they question the purpose of extension if I just state that i am a tourist or can just honestly say that want to spend more time with my child. Could not apply for family visa at this time because I just recieve new passport

well, you have two options: You can ask for a "touristic extension" which will get you 30 more days. However, if you have a proof that you are the legitimite father of a half Thai child, you can get a 60-days extension based on "family visit"

yes I have Thai birthday certificate with my name on it and also my daughter have my surname. I just not want to make mess the first time applying for visa. Thanks and I will check everything once there on immigration

@Vlastimil ******
your name on the birth certificate might not be enough of a proof of your fathership. Generally speaking, a fathership must be acknowldeged by a Thai Family Court. You can try your luck, ask Immigration, bring your wife and the kid, so maybe they accept the birth certificate as a single proof
