Hello. I entered Thailand on the 60 days TR visa and extended my stay for 60 days reason being visiting my Thai wife. I saw some comments before saying that the 30 days tourist extension is separate from the 60 days family extension.

I tried to ask this at the Chang Watthana immigration office but they didn’t understand my question.

My question is, am I able to extend for an additional 30 days reason being tourism?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the possibility of extending their 60-day family visa for an additional 30 days specifically for tourism purposes. Responses indicate that typically, a 30-day tourism extension should be applied for before extending a family visa. Their eligibility for a 30-day extension while on a family visa is uncertain and would require them to consult the immigration office directly.

normally you use all available extensions for the reason you're here (as in your case for tourism) before you switch reasons and get an extension for the visit thai family reason <- meaning you would have taken the 30 day extension FIRST, then switched reasons for the extension.

Dunno if they'll do it or not, all you can do is go back to the immigration office at Chaengwattana in section J and ask, worst case they'll say no, best case they'll let you do it

I think they did understand. There is no 30 day extension available for the 60 day visit family extension. Most immigration offices want you to get the 30 day tourism extension first for exactly this reason.

Usually, ChaengWattana has you apply for a 30-day tourism extension first, which is the same reason as your entry stamp, as a 60-day visit Thai family extension is a different reason from your entry.

As you are already on a 60-day family visit extension, they may or may not give you a 30-day TOURISM extension now.

All you can do is go to CW at the end of your current stamp and ask for a 30-day tourism extension and there is no downside. Just ask whether you can apply for a 30-day tourism extension now or not, as you haven't applied for it yet.

The worst thing is they say no, you are already on an extension for not-tourism. Then, you have to do a border bounce or visa run if you want to stay longer.
