Hi guys, new to the group - I’m looking for visa extension advice 🙏

So I’m on a Uk passport, I just entered Thailand on the 10th August - visa exempt - so I’m still in ASQ -BKK.

I will be needing to extend my visa, I am not married but we have a 10 year relationship and my son is 9, both live here.

What’s the best options for me to extend and where do I need to apply ?

After leaving ASQ I will be residing at our farm in Chaiyaphum but I have a place in Bkk also.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster, who is a UK passport holder currently on a visa-exempt entry in Thailand, is seeking advice on extending their stay. They mention a long-term relationship and a child living in Thailand, prompting suggestions for a regular 30-day extension, a 60-day family visit extension, a 60-day COVID-related extension, and a year-long extension based on parental rights. They are advised to visit the local immigration office after completing their ASQ.

you will need to apply at the Thai immigration office where you are living and is your TM30 registered address.

Thanks James, that’s great. I just wanted clarification if the 60 day family visa can be extended (if need be) thanks again

@Stephen *****
it is only available ONE TIME per entry into Thailand.

Get if available the 30 days extension or the 60 days COVID extension before you use up the family visit 60 days extension.

And somehow plan to get the 400,000 Thai baht funds deposited into a Thai bank account in your name only for the one year extension of stay based on Thai child support.

And be sure to follow the good advice from
@Tod ********
re getting your child recognized by the Thai court or Amphur in order to obtain the one year extension of stay based on support of Thai child.

I’m 46 and yes I am the biological father of my child as registered with his birth certificate.

remember
@Stephen *****
just being listed on the birth certificate doesn't mean you can use the child for a year long extension.

When thai children are born out of wedlock 100% of the parental rights is granted to the mother and the father either goes thru family court for a parental rights decree OR (once the child is old enough) goes to the local amphur to get recognized that way.

THEN once you have one of those you can use the child as a reason for a long term extension here.

Without that decree you could get only a 60 day visit thai family extension (and you can only get that once per entry)

Thanks Tod, very detailed and clear.

So can I apply for a 30 day extension then after apply for a 60 day family extension ?
Benjamin ******
@Stephen *****
No, if you qualify for the 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family, that is the extension you should apply for.

cheers Benjamin, someone else has informed me I can apply for the 30 day extension first, then when that expires I can extend for another 60 days with the family extension?!

@Andrew ********
I think you mean is the O/P's name on the birth certificate as the father

Of course the childs name is on their own birth certificate 😉

keep in mind that just because you're listed as the father on the birth certificate that does not mean you have parental rights if the child was born out of wedlock. 😕 Those are two completely different things.

@Tod ********
well spotted

you can apply for a 30 day "regular" extension on your 45 day visa exempt entry OR you could apply for a 60 day "visit thai family" extension OR if they're available when your current stamp is running out you could apply for a 60 day covid extension (they are available until the 27th of Sept)

OR

If you have legal parental rights granted (either by court decree or from the Amphur) and you met the financial requirements you could get a year extension based on raising a half thai child.

You do all those extensions at the immigration office that serves the area where you live

thanks Tod, I’ll decide which one is best for me.

So absolutely no registration or applying on line ? Has to be at the immigration office ?

@Stephen *****
right ALL extensions are done at the immigration office that serves the area where you live
