I havn't seen a single post of anyone applying or trying to get the DTV from any Chinese locations, which weird because flights aren't that expensive and they have a BUNCH of Consulates to choose from. Anyone have any idea how or if they would be a good option?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the challenges and considerations for applying for a DTV visa from China. While some participants mention that there have been successful applications, they clarify that the consulates in China typically require applicants to be either Chinese citizens or residents. This complicates the option for expats living outside of China, leading to the conclusion that applying from China may not be feasible for most.

The embassy/consulates in China require you to be a citizen or resident of the country to apply via those places. They are not like the embassies in Southeast Asia.
