Asking for a friend with a Russian passport who was given a 45 day entry stamp overland from Malaysia. Does anyone know if she is eligible for an extension? And for what amount of time?
Thank you ✨

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Russian passport holder with a 45-day entry stamp from Malaysia is generally not eligible for an extension due to the visa waiver agreement. While some offices might offer a nominal 7-day extension after denying an application, it's considered a denial with a grace period to leave. The best option for her would be to travel to another country and re-enter Thailand, which would allow her to receive a new 45-day entry stamp.
Not eligible for an extension as they entered under the visa waiver based on a bilateral agreement.
Some offices may offer a “7 day extension” but this is not what it is. It’s a denial of an application for an extension and after denial they give you 7 days to leave.
This is not a good stamp to have for future entries here or possibly in other countries too.
Easiest way would be to “border bounce” to another country by land or air and return for another 45 days.
