Hi all! I have a stamp on arrival for 30 days when I entered Thailand. I was told it could be extended at immigration office for another 30 days. Is that true? As far as I know it could be done only for 7 days. Iโ€™m a Russian citizen if it maters. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Russian citizen who enters Thailand under the visa-waiver program can only receive a 30-day stamp upon arrival but is not eligible for a 30-day extension. Instead, they can apply for a 7-day extension or exit the country to re-enter on a new visa.

Yes, your nationality DOES matter. When you attempt to enter Thailand without purchasing a visa prior to your travel,

You as a Russian entered Thailand for 30 days on a visa-waiver program that is not eligible for 30 days tourism extension. 6 countries including Russia are on the visa-waiver for 30 days. As you wrote, you can apply and get a 7-days-to-leave stamp if you apply for a tourism extension.

While, 52 nationalities enter Thailand for 30 days on the visa-exempt scheme that IS eligible for 30 days tourism extension.
