A Russian family came in for 3 months (90 day on arrival)

They now want to do a border run and stay another 1 month…..

They and I cannot find any info online, can anyone confirm what they will get if they come back in after a border run?

Will it be another 90 days or 1 month or something else???

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Russian family who entered Thailand under a 90-day bilateral agreement can do a border run to receive another 90-day entry stamp upon re-entering. Until April 30th, they can choose between a 30-day or 90-day entry. However, if they opt for a 90-day visa, it cannot be extended or converted to another type of visa while in Thailand. They can only re-enter to receive another 90-day stamp if they leave the country.

Can just extend 30 days local immigration.

No they can’t. On a 90 day entry an extension is not possible.

Unlike the usual “two entries per year” allowed for land border visa exempt entries that does not apply to Russians who enter using a visa waiver. They can enter as many times via a land border as they’d like.

Currently until April they actually have a choice on entry to use the 30 day entry or 90 day entry. (That date may or may not change closer to the time.)

Using the 30 day entry they can get an extension for 30 days and/or change their entry to another visa type within country. Using the 90 day entry then that’s their lot. They cannot extend, nor change to any other visa type within the country. They must leave and re-enter. There are no options.

You can do border bounce (but not via Poi Pet) to Cambodia one day, they will give you a new 90 days stamp. Russian can do unlimited time per year.

though do note that promotional 90 day entry ends on April 30th

Yes, but after promotion they can still get the 30 day visa exemption.

Just being pedantic but terminology matters in these cases. Russians get a visa waiver entry based on a bilateral agreement. It is not visa exemption. Different rules apply to the two different entry schemes. You’ll see the difference in the entry stamp. Visa exempt entries get a ผ.30 stamp. Visa waiver get a ผผ. Stamp for 14, 30 or 90 days depending on country.

Yes, Russian get ผผ90 till April 24, if the bilateral not extend then after this they will get ผผ30.

Either ผผ90 or ผผ30, Russian passport can do a bounce to Cambodia unlimited time per calendar year. (Not via Poi Pet Border).

Whether they change the date or not Russians will not get a ผ.30 stamp. They would get ผผ.30 stamp indicating that it’s a visa waiver not a visa exemption. A very subtle difference but it does mean rules like the two land border crossings per year do not apply.

OK, thank you for correct my wrong word . OK ผผ30 Visa Waiver 🙏

I know it sounds pedantic but in this particular instance there is a difference in the wording and rules change because of that. It is important to use the right wording to help others understand that there is a difference. Very few people understand the subtle differences between the two entry schemes of visa waiver or visa exempt but for what you can and cannot do for immigration rules they are poles apart.

Russians do not get Visa on arrival. Until April 30th they get a 90 day bilateral agreement entry. This cannot be extended or converted to any other visa in Thailand.

If they do a border run before April 30th they should be able to receive another 90 day stamp.
