I am trying to fulfill the new financial requirements for my 1 year extension on my Non-O Visa based on marriage. I have a question regarding the bank account. I am having a very hard time finding a bank that will open a bank account for me as I do not have a work permit and do not work in Thailand. Only one bank would open an account for me but only if it were a joint account with both my name and my wife's name on it. Would that be acceptable or not? Any information about this would be appreciated. Cheers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on whether having a joint bank account with their Thai spouse would satisfy the financial requirements for a one-year extension of their Non-O Visa. One commenter confirms that a joint account is acceptable for immigration purposes, but notes that the required minimum balance of 800,000 THB applies to the total amount in the account, divided by the account holders.

There are several topics on this page about bank accounts and how to transfer money. There are hundreds discussions to be found on the web about how to open a bank account in Thailand. Sorry, but this is not the place to start a new discussion.

Than how does a person on a Non-O Visa acquire a Thai bank account if they dont work in Thailand? It's required by immigration but it seems it cant be done. I just need a bank account so I can put the money in it.

Acceptable for Immigration. But be aware that the sum of money is divided by the account holders. This means if you share the account with your wife you need a minimum of 800.000 Thb on that account.
