I am in Phuket and have a N O visa for 1 year. Today I went to ask about my 90 day check in and found that I have to leave the country every 90 days not just check in. With the whole covid situation, it is basically impossible so my other option they tell me is to get a bank account in my name with 400,000baht in it for 2 months and apply for marriage visa. but no bank will let me open an account on this visa. Does anyone have any experience or advice you could give me please? I have 10 days left

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Phuket on a Non-O visa and has been informed that they need to leave Thailand every 90 days. Due to the COVID-19 situation, leaving is impractical. The alternative they are considering is obtaining a bank account with 400,000 baht to apply for a marriage visa. However, they are having trouble opening a bank account on their current visa. Commenters suggest that opening a bank account is possible on any visa, and advise transferring funds quickly. They mention options for extensions and caution against discussing specific banks.

This post is starting to become a "which bank should I use". That's outside of the scope of the group. I'm closing comments.

OP (or anyone else): if there are related questions about getting an extension of stay, please send a mod a message and we'll reopen the post. Otherwise, for banking advice, ask on a local group.

1. I'm guessing you're on a Non-O Multiple Entry visa. You are stamped in for 90 days.

>so my other option they tell me is to get a bank account in my name

You can open a bank account on any visa or visa exempt. It is up to the bank. I'm sure there's lots of banks there; continue asking and bring your wife with you.

>account in my name with 400,000baht in it for 2 months and apply for marriage visa

Open the bank account and transfer the funds as soon as possible. 2 months is *NOT* 60 days. You *CAN* get a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family without showing the 400K THB in a bank account.

if I was to try and get a 60 day extension, I am under the impression by people we spoke to today that it voids my 1 year visa. I would then need to apply again after the extension yeah?

@Troy ******
Visas *CAN NOT* get voided for requesting a 60 day or one year extension of stay.

It's extremely common to go from a 60 day extension of stay to a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national.

find out the requirements to get 60 day extension

@Troy ******
Ask for a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family. You *DO NOT* want a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19
