TLDR : Answer Summary
A user queries the community about the 9,000 baht charged for a new German passport in Thailand, expressing concern over potential overcharging and wondering if this amount is typical. Responses indicate that the price seems excessive, with variations noted among different nationalities and services. Some comments suggest using agents can result in higher costs, while others mention much lower prices for passport renewals from other European consulates.

In fairness it depends where you live. I use an agent. Its cheaper and easier than 2 trips to Bangkok.

I dont know about German passports but agents can push the paper for UK passport, cost is about 5000bt on top of the government passport fee. That's why I asked.

Agents aren't allowed to make a passport. You make an appointment directly with your embassy

For a person over 24 with the embassy card 81E, without the embassy card 141 (valid 10 years). That's the maximum price I've seen on the embassy's website

That's the price of the embassy. Every embassy have their own price. For a French passport it's 86E.

9000B seems way too much
