TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat from Africa is seeking information about the processing time for a B visa approval in Thailand after their resort employer submitted the necessary documents to the ministry of labor over a month ago. Several comments discuss typical processing times, with estimates ranging from 3 days to several months, and raise concerns about the potential impact of the individual's nationality on the approval process. The conversation highlights differing experiences and perceptions of the visa process for foreign workers in Thailand.

How come so many people are not understanding OP post at all? Guys, wake up or just don't comment non sense. OP applied for a wp3 which take 2-3 days to get approved. He need this to apply for a work permit because he is from Nigeria. Geez, this group is becoming worse then the big one which we ran away from to start this one, lol.
Bill ********
dont worry, come to Thailand and work first..... if you do good you will be approved instantly.

how is that even possible

i know it sounds strange but Thai men are inherently lazy and refuse to work. Advantage you....

I mean wp3 pre-approval letter to get the 90days visa to obtain a visa
Colin ********
Did you pay an agent for this? Is it a legit company? Maybe ascam?
jamiu ******************

@Colin *******
I don't pay any agent
Thomas *********
It usually takes 3 or 4 weeks to get approval before you can apply for the visa
jamiu ******************

@Thomas ********
it have passed because she applied on 6th of June and today is 7th of July so it's already a month which is 4 weeks already I'm hoping to hear from them next week if possible
Mithlesh *********
Approval from labour dept takes 3 days. Approval is valid for 1 month. So you should ask them if they have really applied
Andy ********
@Mithlesh ********
that is great advice. How would
@Bolaji *******
do that?
jamiu ******************

@Mithlesh ********
that why I saw on the internet too sure they applied but someone already told me reason why I'm facing delay
Henrika *************
@Bolaji *******
Hi, if they've already applied, the labour department will give them a letter (of acknowledgement, aka WP3) that you can use to get your non-b visa along with other documents.
jamiu ******************

@Henrika ********
they said they never receive anything from them yet
Henrika *************
@Bolaji *******
they donโ€™t want to spend any money/time in applying for a work permit I guess. Lots of expats willing to work illegally in Thailand, lots of companies banking on that!

You are black, and African. These are the reason it's taken so long. If you were white from the UK, you would be okay already. Yes, they are taking longer because of that and the chance of rejection is higher. No, I do not think that's it's fair, but it's the world we live in.

racist bastard and that is bad language
Maxim ***********
@Chris ********************
Calling out racism is being racist...? Or perhaps I'm racist toward white people...? Reread the convo, this ain't' it.
Chris *********************
@Maxim **********
your first words is you are black and African???????
Maxim ***********
@Chris ********************
Yes, black and african is a bad combo to get discriminated against in Thailand, but also in the rest of the world. Which part is confusing to understand...?
Chris *********************
Maxim Thibodeau are you Dutch or a Boer by any chance
Jo **********
@Chris ********************
why you have something against Dutch people- talk about xenophobia and discrimination based on nationality!
Chris *********************
@Jo *********
no problem with any nationality,

I worked in SA for a long time ,and witnessed there behavior towards the SA people.
Nishant ************
@Maxim **********
Is it the same for Indians too?
Maxim ***********
@Nishant ***********
Yes, sadly. But that doesn't mean impossible, it just mean harder.

@Frank *********
just for the record putting lolol at the end of a derogatory message doesn't change it from being derogatory.
Aaron *******
@Maxim **********
Yes, there is a difference. I am African - American, US citizen by birth and heritage, and I've encountered extra scrutiny in Asia, which disappears as soon as they see my US Passport. "Oh, you're American, no problem."
Andi ***********
@Aaron ******
Same for black Brits..
Maxim ***********
@Aaron ******
Exactly. But some people here (usually old and white) will deny that such discriminatory practices even exist.
Tony *********
@Maxim **********
well I'm white and it took me 4 months. So much for that logic.

I'm not talking about the work permit yet I'm talking about wp3 to get a 90 days visa to enter the country from Nigeria
Maxim ***********
@Bolaji *******
I'm not surprised that it's taken so long given that you are from Nigeria. It's not by accident that I mentioned Nigeria above (before knowing which country you are from). Nigerians have a bad rep in Thailand (love scam, call center scam, and other online scams). It's not your fault. You will have the occasional old foreigner shimming in with a personal anecdote and anything under the sun to ignore systemic discrimination. Ignore them, they live in their ivory tower.

wow you said it all God bless you wow u just answered my question because I'm tired of emailing or messaging the HR and even the HR is confused too

@Bolaji *******
It would be easier to come to Thailand on a tourist visa and start the process over. Need a lawyer to make sure you don't get screwed over while here. Thailand have had his fair share of love scam and internet scam from Nigeria and other African countries therefore they often are very paranoid about allowing people from Africa to come here. Being here and involved in the process directly with lawyer, and access to the immigration office, etc, would help a lot.

@Martin ****
B visa is if you have a job in Thailand. You get a work permit from that.
Martin *****
@Stuart ********
. Its simple I have a B visa because I have a overseas company in Thailand but I had to hire 4 thai as staff to get a workpermit for my self. So explain to me how this guy gets a non B visa and workpermit?
Kool *******
@Martin ****
if you'd have been able to set your company up under the BOI structure you would have had to only hire one Thai employee, and it could have even been part time, your licensed accountant. You could also have owned 100% of your company. The only requirement for a work permit under a BOI registered company is the bt2million in registered capital for each work permit. You wouldn't need anything else
jamiu ******************

@Martin ****
I can get work permit since the company offering me a job is registerd and based in Thailand hope I answered your question now

@Stuart ********

@Martin ****
a type B visa/extension is issued if you work for someone else, or have your own business you work at in Thailand. It is not exclusively for business owners.
