Hi, I'm yet to do a visa run to Malaysia KL Thai embassy to apply for a new non B visa since I'm changing employers.. I was wondering if anyone has been to the KL embassy recently for obtaining a visa or similar, and how long did it take?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is planning to do a visa run to the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur to apply for a new Non-B visa and seeks advice on the time it typically takes for processing. Several commenters suggest alternative locations like Vientiane or Savannakhet in Laos, which may offer faster processing and are noted to have fewer issues with certain passport holders. They also emphasize the importance of having the correct documents, including an employer's letter, when applying for the visa.

Laila, Savannakhet is your best bet. K.L. have been known for being very critical. 1 document missing & they jump on it immediately.

Savannakhet allow you to use the copy shop opposite & return to the front of the queue without having to line up again.

Only problem is the sign outside says they open at 8:30 am, but they actually open at 9 am. It can also get very busy, I arrive at 6 am and am usually 1st in line. Best of luck.

Talk with your employer about where you are applying for a new Non-B, well. You likely need a letter from your employer addressed to a specific embassy/consulate as one of the required documents. You cannot pick and change the consulate you are applying for Non-B at at the last minute.

Why would you go to a consulate that has a 4 week processing time? Go to Vientiane Lao or Savannakhet Lao and get the visa instead. They don't have an issue with S/A passport holders like the Malaysian thai consulates do

vientiane you need an appointment, AND they have a 3 working day processing time (turn in your app Monday morning, pick up your passport Wednesday afternoon)

savannakhet is walk up service with next working day processing time, (turn in your passport one morning, pick it up in the afternoon of the next business day)

I can only recommend Vientines was there last week on Tuesday for Non b and went as smoothly as possible. Took no more than 5 minutes when submitting documents no questions at all. No more than 2 minutes when I picked up my passport on Thursday.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

thanx for that (y)

both vientiane and savannakhet run close to the same with requirements for Non-B, Non-ED, etc

Only difference is the Vientiane mandatory appointment and the 3 day processing between the two locations.
