Hello!!

I will be applying for the 60 days covid extension soon. Does anyone know how many daysI should go to the immigration before my visa expires?

So for example, if my visa is due to 30/03 how long before i should apply for it? is one week enough?

*I already have all the documents and forms checked ✔️

Cheers!!!!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to apply for a 60-day COVID extension for their visa and is uncertain how soon before the expiration date they should visit immigration. Responses from the community suggest that the time frame can vary by immigration office, with some allowing applications as early as 30 days prior, while others only permit applications within one week of expiration. For the best experience, it's recommended to apply a few days before the visa expiration date to avoid crowds.

As others have already said, it varies from one Immigration Office to the next. I’d go and ask at your local office now. My 1st 60d extension to SETV was due to expire on 12th Apr. I went and asked today and they told me I could do it now. So I did and I’ve now been extended to 12th Jun and it’s only 9th Mar.

In Phuket immigration, they said 1 week. I guess it depends on the place and how busy

Is there no news so far about this 60 day extension being extended?

Liam Scott. March 30 last date, which takes you through to May 30. With talk of possible reduction of quarantine in April, and potential influx of real tourists, the covid extensions may well be coming to an end
Liam *******
Interesting. Let’s see what happens. I assume they’ll be keeping the 30 day extension though?

Liam Scott. 30 day extension to TR visa and visa exempt stamp is standard practice. It's unrelated to covid, but there's a maximum of one only.

And are you on a covid extension now?

the reason I ask IS

if you're already on a covid extension and are applying for another one they ADD the 60 days to your current stamps expiration date

BUT

If you are on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry (as in you came in recently and went thru quarantine) when you apply for the 60 day covid extension it starts the day you apply so going too early burns you for the days you have left on your current stamp.

I'd say IF your current stamp expires on the 30th of march (which is the LAST day people can apply for a 60 day covid extension) you should go the 28-29 and apply (it will be MOB SCENE on the 30th for sure)

@Tod ********
yes, I am in a covid extension...

so what you mean is that does not matter the day that I go, they will add 60 days after my due date... so like my visa expires
*****
if I go next week there they will add 60 days after

In theory, yes. But while subsequent COVID extensions will be added to the end date of the current COVID extension you are on, the amount of time they are willing to give you another extension ahead of time varies from office to office. I checked many different offices. Some allow you to get another one as early as 30 days before - some 15 days before - some only in the last week before expiration. The usual mess TIT.

@Rafaella *******
that is how we are seeing it work. IF you are going for another covid extension on top of the one you have, they add the 60 days to the expiration date you have now

ohhh I see!!! Thank you very much 🙏🏼 I appreciate your help!!!!

Varies greatly, depending on which immigration office we are talking about. So do the documents required. Anything from

30 days to 7 days before they will permit.

Some offices stamp you on the day of application. Some add on the days. Depending on your office the 30th will probably be manic. I’d go a few days before just so it’s a bit quieter.

What visa do you have?

@Bobby *******
I have the covid extension
Bobby ********
Rafaella Soares. Ok. So it's not actually a visa. You can go anytime up to March 30, the extension will be through to May 30. With the touted relaxation in quarantine rules, this could well be the last one.
