How does the DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) work in Thailand with re-entry and duration of stay?

Hello everyone! I just would like to know how the DTV works, I got it is for 180 days, but didnt understand really well.

I got the DTV and got 180 days in the first arrival, stayed for a month and did a trip to Japan, when I cameback I got a new stamp with more 180 days.

I saw before it would need to leave the country every 180 days, but if everytime I go travel abroad I get new 180 days, how it works, will I need to renew something at immigration?

Thank you so much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Digital Tourist Visa (DTV) allows for 180 days of stay each time you enter Thailand. You don't need to renew anything at the immigration office, but you must submit a TM47 report every 90 days of consecutive stay. If you stay for 180 days and wish to remain in Thailand, you need to exit and re-enter the country to receive a new 180-day stamp. Additionally, you are required to update your TM30 proof of residency within 3 days after re-entering to avoid fines.

Just use “MyDTV” app for your own piece of mind.

Keep in mind that if you don't exit within 180 days, you need to go to immigration to get an extension for an additional 180 days, but after 360 total days, you are required to leave and re-enter to get a new 180 days.

You can exit and reenter as you wish within 5 years (until the printed visa expiration date). You'll get 180 days upon each entry.

You have 3 days to update your TM30 proof of residency every time you enter - if you don’t you will be hit with a fine of 1600 baht - I went to do my 90 day reporting on time - but because I didn’t go to immigration within 3 days of landing - I was hit with a fine makes no sense same address same everything have a 12 month lease but they require you to do it every time you re - enter the country on a DTV / once I paid the fine showed proof of documentation I could do my 90 day reporting.

a TM30 must be filed within 24hrs of arrival at your new address....

correct it was when I moved in - that’s not were I’m trying to help people -

I left the country before 180 days - flew back ✈️ wasn’t a new address nothing changed same place same lease - come back into the country - it has to be resubmitted again within 3 days every time you come back into the country at immigration-

I wasn’t able to complete my 90 day reporting until the TM30 was completed again with absolutely no changes just red tape nonsense-

I received a 1600 baht fine - because I did not update the TM30 when I entered the country within 3 days -

Hopefully this will help people not get a fine when they go do their 90 day reporting.

individual offices may give you a little leeway but in Thai law there is no three day period to file. The law is very clear, a TM30 must be filed within 24hrs of you arriving at your address.

yes, but in theory is not you, but the landlord who needs to fill it again on the system.

they don’t care 🤷🏻‍♂️ unfortunately my landlord is a Chinese woman 👩 who lives in Singapore 🇸🇬 won’t do anything - so my reality just lodge the TM30 paper work at any immigration office within 3 days of landing 🛬 & I can never do the 90 day reporting online as it’s always classified for the first time.

Do your TM30 - 3 days before you land.

Do your 90 day reporting in person

No fines no issue

Leave the country before 180 days

Return

Repeat 🔁

You have a 5 year multiple entry visa. You will be stamped in for 180 days every entry. Enjoy.

You don't need to renew anything at immigration office, only TM47 report every 90 consecutive days you stay in the country
