TLDR : Answer Summary
The new DTV visa allows for multiple entries to Thailand, each granting a 180-day stay. Users can effectively stay for 360 days per year by leaving Thailand and re-entering to obtain a new stamp. However, after two consecutive 180-day entries, you must leave Thailand for at least 4 days before returning for a new entry. Additional considerations include tax implications if staying more than 180 days within a year.

You have to pay tax if more than 180d per year

you need to file taxes* if your country has a tax treaty what you already pay in taxes is applied. Tops out at 35% on income over B5,000,000.

not necessarily

for sure you have to if you work. If you don't work with DTV you are a spouse or medical/soft power tourist. Most people with DTV work.

changing your story now, stay 180 days you register for tax but not necessarily pay

Maximum of 360 days out of 365 days . After the initial renewal of the second 180 days extension to 360 days..u must leave Thailand and then u can return in 4 days and start the first 180 days again, renew for 180…total 360. Leave for 4 days and repeat for the 5 years of the DTV.

you can stay a full year, entry+ extension gets you 360 days. A day boarder run gets you another 180 days. So realistically you can stay 364 of 365 days.

Boarder runs are no issue with the DTV vs 60 day exempt or tourist visa.

there is no maximum 360 days.

from the video I watched on YouTube with a foreigner interviewing the Thai deputy director General Ninnad ( who’s very articulate and speaks English ) that’s what I remember. Great video if u haven’t seen.

Sorry can’t post the link but I’ll post a pic

the DTV works like every other multiple entry visa in existence. When you enter Thailand you get a 180 day stamp. Every time. There is no provision to stamp anyone less than 180 days or to tell them they can't come back in yet.

Also that interview was with someone from the MFA and they handle embassies and visa issued in embassies but they have nothing to do with entering Thailand. That's immigration which is under the Department of the Interior and they don't really care what each other say, they do their own thing.

I understand but my point is u can’t stay a full year …close too but not a full 365 from what he said. Anyways ….potatoes …potatos …it doesn’t apply for me ….just found the video informative for people looking for the DTV

you absolutely can stay a full year. Come in for 180 days, do a same day border bounce and get another 180 days. Then apply for an extension or do another same day border bounce and get another 180 days. You never have to spend even 1 night outside of Thailand.

u may be right but not from my understanding ….anyways all good man cheers

where did you get the information about 4 days from? What’s preventing you from stepping out of Thailand and stepping straight back in again?
Graham ******
Everytime you enter Thailand during the 5 year validity you get a 180 day entry stamp. Enter, leave then re-enter for a new 180days.
Brandon ************
No, the DTV allows an unlimited number of entries and every time you enter you'll receive a new 180 day entry stamp. You're not limited to any amount of days per year.
