I canโ€™t find much information about the renewal process of the DTV Visa.

From what I understand, you donโ€™t have to leave Thailand after your first 180days (you can renew it at the immigration office)

But do we need to go out the country every 180 days after the 1st renewal?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV Visa allows for a stay of 180 days, which can initially be extended by visiting an immigration office in Thailand. After the first 180 days, you can extend your permission to stay for another 180 days without leaving the country. However, subsequent entries into Thailand will require you to exit and re-enter the country to obtain a new permission to stay stamp. Each time after an extension, you must leave Thailand and return to reset your stay. For the in-country extension, you will need documentation proving sufficient funds and evidence of your ongoing participation in any approved activity linked to the DTV.

Every 180 days either border run or one extension per entry. After 180 + 180 extended you must border run.

To get the in country extension at the immigration office where you live;

You will have to show proof of the 500K baht in your account (the amount of time varies by immigration office)

AND

if you used a soft power reason you have to show you're still enrolled in or doing what ever soft power thing you used to get the DTV.

It is FAR easier for most everyone to just bounce out/back get a new 180 day entry stamp without showing ANY documentation other than your DTV and your passport ๐Ÿ˜‰

So that you're not confusing people with incorrect terminology, you're not "renewing" the visa (The visa lasts for five years, and is not renewable). By going to immigration you are "extending" your permission to stay stamp, by leaving the country and re-entering you are obtaining a new permission to stay stamp

Every new entry in to Thailand gives you 1 opportunity to extend on that visit.

But you will need to provide documents and show funds, as other have already confirmed.

Easier to leave for a mini break and return.

your reply makes little sense and is over complicating something that is actually quite simple.

My first posts is pretty clear.

After the first 180 days you can do an extension inside Thailand for another 180 days.

After that you need to go outside Thailand.

When you come back you get another 180 days and can do an extension again when the days expire.

So... You can stay for 360 days before you have to go outside Thailand each time you re-enter...

only once per entry.

So enter Thailand year one. Extend once. Leave Thailand. Enter Thailand year two. Extend once. Leave Thailand. Etc.

180 days each entry and each extension.
