TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa allows for 180 days of stay each time you enter Thailand. This duration is not cumulative; every entry resets the stay period to 6 months. Therefore, if you re-enter the country multiple times, you can potentially stay in Thailand for several years without needing an in-country extension or filing a 90-day report.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Service to get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

It's not cumulative. It's always 180 days upon EACH entry, which means that if you travel frequently, you can stay the 5 years without any in country extension, and without needing to file 90 days report, either.
If you stay 90 days in a row. When I was on a B in a Global role based in Thailand I travelled often. No need for 90 day report as never in Thailand for a consecutive 90 days.
read again what I wrote. Frequent travelers, like me, staying less than 90 continuous day at a time, don't need to file it. If you stay more than 90 days at a time, then, yes.
