How often do I need to leave Thailand with a DTV and for how long?

I'm a bit confused on the rules of the 180 days on the DTV, as I understand it can be extended another 180 days. Doesn't this effectively mean you never have to leave during the five years? I'm asking because I want to know pretty much exactly how often I have to leave, and for how long I need to leave? Can it be short, like a couple of days, then come back and it starts all over, or do I need to stay out of Thailand longer? I'll be married soon and we have a child on the way so I want to get this right and now risk messing it up. Any help/advice would really be appreciated. Also, I was fortunate enough to get my DTV with multiple entries, so not only can we travel as often as we like, does that mean the 180 days starts over each time? If there's a "Dummies Guide To The Thai DTV" please point me in that direction. Thanks everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) allows for an initial stay of 180 days, which can be extended once for another 180 days, making a maximum of 360 days per entry. After that, you must leave Thailand before re-entering to receive a new 180-day stamp. There is no strict required duration for how long you must stay out of Thailand; you can leave and re-enter on the same day if preferred. However, you'll need to do a 90-day report at your local immigration office while on a DTV.

All DTVs are multiple entry with unlimited entries.

You can only extend your stay once per entry, so you can stay max 360 days per entry.

Leaving the country and coming back gives you another 180 days. Doesn't matter how long you're gone for.

You can only get ONE extension then you must leave. The DTV is not a visa that allows you to live in Thailand for 5 years uninterrupted

Be fully aware that for the extension you need to produce all the updated documents you used to originally get the DTV. By leaving and immediately returning you don't have to produce any documents other than your DTV printed out.

you can leave and come back as often as you want and allways get a new 180 days stamped… you can extend every entry only once. so after 360 days you will have to do a border run (air or land). you can immediately come back and get a new 180 day stamp.

you will also need to do the 90 day report at your local immigration office.

This has literally been discussed over and over and over

As well as is pretty self explanatory if one has even basic reading comprehension.

You can extend one time per entry. You enter on 180 days then extending in country for another 180 days. You must then leave Thailand. This might be just in and out same days though.
