I'm a bit confused on the rules of the 180 days on the DTV, as I understand it can be extended another 180 days. Doesn't this effectively mean you never have to leave during the five years? I'm asking because I want to know pretty much exactly how often I have to leave, and for how long I need to leave? Can it be short, like a couple of days, then come back and it starts all over, or do I need to stay out of Thailand longer? I'll be married soon and we have a child on the way so I want to get this right and now risk messing it up. Any help/advice would really be appreciated. Also, I was fortunate enough to get my DTV with multiple entries, so not only can we travel as often as we like, does that mean the 180 days starts over each time? If there's a "Dummies Guide To The Thai DTV" please point me in that direction. Thanks everyone.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) allows for an initial stay of 180 days, which can be extended once for another 180 days, making a maximum of 360 days per entry. After that, you must leave Thailand before re-entering to receive a new 180-day stamp. There is no strict required duration for how long you must stay out of Thailand; you can leave and re-enter on the same day if preferred. However, you'll need to do a 90-day report at your local immigration office while on a DTV.
