Hey everyone 👋🏽 I'm planning on moving to Thailand for 1year working remotely. I'm trying to understand how the DTV works. After the 180 days is there somewhere I need to go to extend or do I need to leave and re-enter? I'm new to the group😫 I just need a better understanding of the process

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of extending a DTV visa in Thailand involves several steps. You can extend your visa for an additional 180 days, but this can only be done once per entry. After this extension, you will need to do a 'border run' if you wish to stay longer, meaning you must leave Thailand and re-enter. Alternatively, you can extend your visa at an immigration office, but this can be more complicated as it requires documentation similar to your initial application, plus proof of financial stability (such as having $500,000 in a bank account for at least 30 days) and may involve a waiting period. Additionally, it’s important to file a 90-day report at a local immigration office during your stay.

In the end it's easier to border bounce. Extending is a real hassle you have to go to immigration you have to provide all the updated paperwork from your initial application plus you have to show the $500,000 in a bank for a minimum of 30 days then you have to wait a 2 week under consideration period while they send the paperwork to the main office.

you can extend every entry ONCE by 180 days. so you need to border bounce at least once a year.

no, you can go and come back anytime you want. a minute is literaly enough. also: many dtv holders wont extend in thailand and just border run within 180d

And don't forget to go file your 90 day report as well 🤘

You can extend at immigration you'll need all you did when you applied. Or do a border run or fly to a another country and fly back wich is a few bucks more and way easy !

nah I have a 1 year myself

If you exit and return just make sure the owner or agent files a new tm30 when you come back so it's up to date
