I noticed that the Thailands Covid visa amnesty has been extended until January 26 2022. Does that mean that if I obtain an extension any time during the next 2 months I must leave thailand by January 26, or does it mean that  if i get a Covid extension  any time  before January 26 then i can stay for 2 more months? If I apply on January 15, for example, and it is accepted, can I stay until March even with no further visa extensions? Or must I leave by January  26?

Everything depends on what your current visa is. The Jan. 25 date is the last day you can apply. No matter what day you apply, if you are given the COVID extension, you will get a total of 60 days starting the day you apply. Some immigration offices give a "under consideration" stamp. This also counts in the 60 days total.

If you already have a Covid extension 60 days will be added to your current extension of stay. If this is your first Covid extension it will be 60 days from the date of your application. The day the program ends just means the last day someone can apply for this type of extension.

It means you can apply for a Covid extension up until January 25th. If you get one before that date you’d be given 60 days, so that would take to sometime in March.
