Hi everyone, my husband has a non-OA multiple-entry visa and needs to extend it. How easy or difficult is the process while living in Bangkok? I also saw that a re-entry permit is required for multiple-entry visas—do we handle that at the same time as the extension, or afterward.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Extending a Non-OA multiple-entry visa in Bangkok is generally straightforward, typically taking a few hours at immigration as long as all necessary paperwork is prepared. It is important to obtain a re-entry permit if planning to leave Thailand with a multiple-entry visa, which can be done simultaneously with the extension process. Additionally, ensure that health insurance is valid as it can affect the duration of the visa extension.

If your husband gets new insurance and does a border bounce before the Non-OA expires (the visa not his entry stamp) he will get a new 12 month stamp but will require a re-entry permit to re-enter after the visa expires
Visa OA is multi entry, but indeed if you go for a year extension you have to have a single or multi re-entry permit. Take care of y'r health insurance. Y'r extension will be as long as y'r health insurance is valid.
