Hello everyone,

I am looking to change my 90 visa to a retirement visa, at what places for immigration offices do they do this, is it complicated and how long does it take?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of changing a 90-day NON-O visa to a retirement visa involves applying for an extension of stay at your local immigration office. You need to present proof of funds, either by having 800,000 baht in a Thai bank for at least two months prior to the application or by providing an income affidavit from your embassy. It's crucial to visit the immigration office where your stay is registered to inquire about specific requirements, as these may differ based on the type of visa you currently hold.

You need to get 300k in the bank quickly

You would use the office your stay is registered with.

With regard to your visa 90, which visa is it? there are many and many people call them misleading short names. And they have different steps forward to a 12 month extension.

Non-o, non-oa, tr60+30 and others.

Which specific visa are you on?

You can get an extension based on retirement.

You are from the US and as John explains you’ll need to show proof of funds in your bank in Thailand to apply for an extension of stay at your current visa.

Did you apply for a 90 days Non O visa at home before you came? What date did you enter Thailand? Do you have a bank account in Thailand?

Yes I have a bank account with Bank of Bangkok. I only have 500,000 baht in account now .

I was waiting on my retirement to be changed over to direct deposit last month but the FBU in Manila Philippines really screwed that up.

I came in on a 60-day visa, applied for in the united states, after I arrived I crossed the border into Laos which canceled the 60 day and gave me a 90 day non O Visa after coming back into Thailand. my last day here is June the 3rd I have all the stamps, and my stamp says non O Visa. So it seems that if I have the correct amount of money in the bank, that I can apply, for the retirement here in Thailand?

I have finally got a letter saying they have changed my location for my retirement but it will take as much as 60 days for them to start the deposit in the bank of Bangkok. So am I in a position between a rock and a hard place?

Ok, the problem is that the 800K baht has to be seasoned in your account two months before you can apply for your first year extension of stay.

You’ve got a 90 days Non O until 3th of June now and there’s not enough time to apply for an extension of stay on this, you’ll therefore need to be prepared to to leave and re-enter on a visa exemption and apply for a new Non O when you can fulfil the financial requirements.

If you can apply for a new 90 days Non O in country while you’re already on a Non O, I don’t know. Normally it’s from a visa exemption or tourist visa on TM.86 and TM.87.

yes, thanks for the help , I am going home. Being new at this retirement and learning visas and length of stays. I hope to get this out of the way and start my retirement a year late. Thanks again

Sounds like you already have the visa so you will be applying for an extension of stay. You do this at your local immigration office so it's best to visit them and ask for their requirements. They will all either require 800k baht in a Thai bank 2 months before you apply or an income affidavit from your embassy
