What are the best recommendations for land border runs from Chiang Mai, and how long should I stay?

Hi folks! I'm in Chiang Mai and I'll need to do a border run in a month. I'd prefer to not fly, does anyone have any service or recommendation for land border runs?

If so, where do you recommend I go, can I come back on the same day or is that frowned upon— otherwise happy to stay a few weeks somewhere too and keep respect for Thailands laws.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Chiang Mai seeks recommendations for land border run services, preferably for a same-day trip without flying. Various comments suggest Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai as the nearest border crossing, with options for transportation including the Green Bus or private vans. The need for the stay duration depends on the user's visa status and re-entry type.

was just there (chiang Khong) last Sunday (an excellent day to go since not as busy )..very straightforward, but I was initiating an e-visa which I had received late, having entered on a visa exempt..so just a bounce was necessary.

none, but was initiating an e-visa ....I do not expect there would be in your case , either..but wasn't in same circumstance.

same day cross and come back with no issues?

The nearest land bordering crossing is Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai. Green Bus runs there from the Arcade Bus Station in Wat Ket or you can use a private van service.

what is your present status?? and type of re entry desired?..will make all the difference in determining how long you'd have to stay in Laos, for example.

I'm here just on my dutch passport, I have a 45 day stamp. I want to come in for another 45 days the same way, then extend for 30 days after. I don't think I applied for any visa, the 45 days was just allowed with my dutch passport!

You're on Visa Exempt entry, do you have a long history of Visa Exempt entries during 2022?
