My wife and I are looking to go to Thailand for 3-4 months this winter. I'm wonder if anyone can give advice on long term car rentals or even looking to purchase a cheaper vehicle for this time. We will be staying in Suan Phueng.

If we like living there we'll be looking to make the move the following winter.

Thanks for the input.

(If you’re thinking of moving it would be a good idea to learn some Thai - I’m a Thai tutor, British but born in Thailand if you’re interested)

Check out Chic Rental - they recently quoted me THB17k per month for a 6 month lease on a Honda BRV. Chic are in most popular locations around Thailand

yes we've been a few times. But we plan to go to Suan Phueng which didn't have as much and we'll be traveling out to some more rural areas for volunteer work so being self-sufficient will be much better.

on that we agree but you said new cars. New cars depreciate immediately following sale with few exceptions. Car prices in Thailand are significantly higher than in the west old or new primarily due tax embedded in the purchase price that sellers attempt to recover until the end in the scrap yard.

but, I think it’s old cars hold their value. Which they do, when compared to western second hand car prices.
