Can I transition to a DTV visa while in Thailand, or must I apply from an embassy outside the country?

* Hi all, curious if anyone has experience transitioning to the DTV while in Thailand? Or is it a hard requirement that this must be in an embassy/consulate outside of Thailand?

A follow up, would the embassy accept 401/Roth for the income statement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot transition to the DTV visa while in Thailand; it must be applied for at a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate General outside of Thailand.

there is no "transitioning" to the DTV in thailand 😮

You can't get that visa inside the country

You can only get that visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate General in another country 😉

If you're in thailand you have plenty of choices to pick of the thai consulates in nearby countries. Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Taipei, HCMC, Hanoi, Vientiane, Savannakhet, Yangon, etc

do you know if a 401k/Roth would satisfy the needs for income?
