TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand while considering options like the NON-OA visa and NON-O visa. The comments highlight the requirements for these visas, such as needing 800,000 baht in funds and insurance, and alternative pathways like getting married or using a tourist visa to later apply for a non-O visa and its extension. Recommendations include consulting a visa agent upon arrival in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

It appears that your only other alternative is to get a 60 Tourist Visa from London Embassy online turnaround is approx 5 days although they do recommend allowing 15 days

Once you are here in Thailand get in touch with a Visa Agent straight away thery are everywhere in BKK and Pattaya, they will open a bank account for you and discuss other options for a 1 year visa this service costs around 30k baht (You do not need to have the 800k money in a bank account) this method is not the correct procedure but a lot of people use it.

Other than that you will after wait until your legally married to a Thai and that will open other options up for you like a 1 year marriage visa ( 800k baht not required)obtained at Savanakhet Laos which means you leave the country every 90 days and return totally legal and legitimate

come in on visa exempt or tourist visa< get married

put 400,000 in the bank

The only 1 year retirement visa you can get from an embassy is the non-OA visa. This is a 1 year multiple entry visa that requires you to show 800,000 in funds provide a criminal history check and medical exam form, and show proof of $100,000 in insurance for 1 year.

Or you can purchase a non-O visa which will give you 90 days in Thailand and once you arrive you can get a bank account setup and 800,000 moved over into the bank account and then apply for the 1 year extension.

Or you can go as a tourist and then get a bank account opened and setup and move the 800,000 over and apply for the non-O 90 day visa in Thailand, followed by the 1 year extension.

thanks for the help. Not sure about putting the 800.000 in a bank account in Thailand though was hoping to build up proof of £1500 being paid into my Thai bank account monthly. Maybe a 6 month visa may be better then for me

apply for the Multi entry tourist visa you can get almost 9 months out of this then sort out what visa you want but unless you use an agent (I’m not recommending one )but you’ll need the 800k for retirement or 400k for a marriage to a Thai

if you're asking about a 90 day non-O visa you only have 2 options for extension. 60 day visiting Thai family extension if you're already married, or 1 year extension.

You can ONLY use the monthly income method if your embassy will verify your income. The UK embassy will not do that. So you have to use the money in the bank method for your initial Non-O visa and first 1 year extension, for either marriage or retirement. You don't have any other option.
