What should I do if I need to change my visa in Thailand after a visa run?

Hi, I have a visa question that I hope you don't mind if I ask here. I have been living in Thailand for 8 months now. On my last visa run from Malaysia, they almost did not let me come back. My girlfriend had to speak with the officer at the airport.

They said next time I go for a visa run, I have to go to the embassy and change my visa. Does anyone have advice on this? I am a digital nomad and have a recruiting business in USA which is how I stay here. Will it be difficult to do this or are there any recommendations for what I need to do/provide to the embassy. I'm considering going

to Laos and the Thai royal embassy in Vientiane. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user living in Thailand raises concerns about potential issues with their visa after facing scrutiny during a recent visa run. They are advised to obtain the correct visa promptly to avoid complications with Thai immigration and are considering visiting the Thai embassy in Vientiane, Laos, for assistance.

Essentially it sounds like you are " exploiting" the exempt status until you make a commitment to thailand. I can understand your reasoning for it but dont expect the thai immigration to tolerate it much longer. If you get the correct visa asap they will leave you alone.

I found the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh to be very friendly, quick and enjoyable for getting a Tourist Visa--you might want to consider going there. Plus, PP is a wonderful city to spend a couple days in:-)

Btw. You dont have a 30 day visa. They dont exist. You being exempt 30 days again and again is raising their suspicion. Correct visa will fix that
