hello everyone....i am italian passport holder and my 30 days visa extension will expire the 11th of may.

would like to make a visa run (out of border in a thai consulate/embassy) to get a new 60 days visa. What would be the best option from Chiang Mai ?

i am considering to go by bus (dont know exactly where at the moment), but understood that would be also some agencys willing to do the paperwork for you.

i'd like to know more about this two options, how much will it cost approsimatly, and if i have to be ready to incounter any troubles in the process.

any suggestions/clarifications ?

thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Italian passport holder is seeking options for making a visa run to obtain a new 60-day visa from Chiang Mai, as their 30-day extension is expiring. They are considering traveling by bus to a Thai consulate/embassy and are looking for cost estimates and advice on potential issues during the process. Community comments suggest flying to Udon Thani and then taking a minivan to the Nong Khai border, with a recommendation to visit the Thai consulate in Vientiane, as well as simplifying paperwork involved in the process.

+1 for Vientiane

Don't worry about paperwork. The form is just one page. You can get the form, the copies of your passport and the pictures taken in the building on the left side. Go to the consular section (here:

I think the best way would be to fly to Udon Thani then take a minivan from the airport to the Nong Khai border, cross and go to the thai consulate in Vientiane.

It's about 3300baht flying in on the 11th and flyin' out the evening of the 12th.

Those time points work fine to get from the Udon thani airport to the thai consulate in Vientiane with plenty of time to turn in your application and the flight back is late enough to get you get your passport and get back to the airport on time too ;)
