I have just picked up my 12 months non O marriage visa from Udon Thani immigration.

They told me that immigration police will come to see me at home but they already have been once a few weeks ago, is this normal for them to visit twice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has received their 12-month non-O marriage visa from Udon Thani immigration and is questioning the norm of immigration police conducting a second home visit after they already visited prior. Various comments clarify that it can be common for immigration to conduct multiple visits, especially following new applications for extensions. Experiences vary among users, with some reporting one visit during initial applications while others have faced multiple home visits across years.

No.Normaly they come one time and that before the visa is issiued.I did mine last month in Phayao and only one man came with a nice BMW.Asked 2 neighbours (One cousin and a friend) how long they know me and the cousin said 35 years .That was it.(The cousin is a helper of the village mayor.)

There are a lot of people from certain countries that are getting Thai women to marry them only for the visa I expect it only to get worse

D'Andrea Doesn't explain why someone who has been living here for years in a genuine marriage should suddenly become subjected to increased scrutiny.

it's just a quick visit. And if your marriage is legit, you have nothing to worry about.

It varies. Sometimes they will visit sometimes they won't. I've been on a retirement extension of stay for 8 years, in the past 2 years I've had 3 visits and prior to that none.

I’m on the same. 13 years now. Last year they said they would visit but just applied for my next extension. Still never a visit.

I got mine a few weeks ago. For the under consideration part they came and visited and said they will do another visit. But at immigration. Once I got the actual stamp. Nothing was mentioned of another visit.

They did for us. They said it was for the re-entry permit (I got a re-entry permit the same day I got the 1 year stamp).

It worked like this for us:

1: Applied for 1 year extension

2: Got visit from Immigration

3: Got approved

4: Went to Immigration office, got 1 year stamp, got re-entry permit at the same time. They said we'd have another visit from Immigration.

5: Got another visit from immigration

Did you get a re-entry permit at the same time you got your 1 year stamp?

It sounds like you applied for the 90-day non-O visa based on marriage, and they came to visit you after that. And now you've applied for the 1-year extension (not a visa, it's an extension), and so they are coming to visit you based on this brand new application. Each extension is a brand new application, you are not renewing anything, you are applying for a brand new extension.

See my reply below. In our case, we got a 2nd visit after picking up my 1 year stamp and re-entry permit. 1st visit: After applying for the 1 year extension. 2nd visit: After getting the 1 year stamp and re-entry permit stamp in my passport. These two visits were only a few weeks apart.

Seems unusual then, but they can do whatever they want really. Maybe they're trying to get you to do a retirement extension instead if you're over 50.
