Super inconvenient issue I’m experiencing now is that with my Thai bank closed down, I’m not able to scan to pay for anything. So the worst pickle this is getting me into is trying to exit car parks! Because a LOT of them / nearly all of them at the shops have no option to pay cash or card 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 is there some type of way around this that anyone’s come across yet? Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is facing difficulties paying for parking in Thailand due to their bank being closed, which restricts their ability to make payments via scanning. They inquire about alternative payment methods for car parks that do not accept cash or cards. Commenters suggest using TrueMoney, a digital wallet service that allows payments through QR codes without needing a Thai bank account. However, there are some limitations regarding transaction limits if the merchant is not registered.

You can use TrueMoney. I don't have (and never have had) any Thai bank account, yet I signed up for TrueMoney with my DTV. I can use it to pay QR codes and I don't even need to top it up with cash, as I linked a credit card from my country on it.

all of them need long term visa

5 years is longer than 1 year, isn't it? Choose Passport with Non Immigrant Visa, and upload BOTH the last entry stamp with your DTV (with the 180 days mark visible) and the PRINTED (no scans or monitor photos) of your DTV PDF file. That's how I got it.
Incognia **********
@Elías *******
Elías Molina your visa is not 5 years It is 180 days.And still tourist Otherwise you can open bank account with DTV

My visa is valid for 5 years, that's what's written on the visa paper itself 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 Don't confuse visa duration vs. allowed stay duration. The visa literally says "Expiration date: 2029", while we get a 180 day stamp upon each entry. Also, we're not discussing here whether it's a tourism visa or not, that's irrelevant to the topic. We're talking about how to get a TrueMoney account with it 🙄

See a PDF sample below, in case you still don't understand.

can you confirm that non-Thai cards worked for you because TrueMoney faq says it is not possible :(
Elías ********
@Carlo *****
Yes, I read it wasn't possible so I wasn't even trying. But then I said, well, nothing to lose by trying. I successfully linked my Korea-issued card. And I have been using it for several payments so far.

@Elías *******
can you give information about fee and rate ?
Elías ********
Participante anónimo 151 I don't think there are any? But, all the information is writen within the app itself, both in English and Thai. So far I have just used it to pay at stores with the Promt Pay QR and linked it with my Grab app to pay there as well.

@Elías *******
can pay personal accounts via QR?
Elías ********
Participante anónimo 211 TrueMoney has two type of accounts: the Basic one and the Advanced one. For the basic, you only need a passport. For the advanced, you need a passport and a visa (meaning people on visa exemption can't, but visas such as the DTV are OK). With the Advanced one you can both pay and receive from other TrueMoney users (including individuals, yes), and also transfer to regular Thai bank accounts, like, to pay your rent, for example.
Incognia **********
@Elías *******
basic accounts can not send money transfer and scan payment.
Elías ********
@Incognia *********
I didn't say otherwise. I said I got an advanced account with my DTV.
Incognia **********
@Elías *******
actually on app they want NON O and ED or work permit.
Elías ********
Ah, almost forget, it also issues you a virtual Master Card debit card, with full 16 digits, expiration date and CVC to do online shipping.
Lee-Ann *******
@Elías *******
is that automatic or do you have to apply for it
Elías ********
@Lee-Ann ******
The virtual card? You manually apply for it, within the app. One moment, I'll share a screen capture.

Can be topped up with cash also, at any

@Elías *******
same and once I gave my Thai drivers license details, I got it with no restrictions
Elías ********
@Lee-Ann ******
yeah, it asked to submit either a Thai driver's license, a work permit, or a non-immigrant visa. I don't have a DL nor a work permit, so I tried with the DTV printed PDF and it was approved.

@Elías *******
you just sent a copy of your DTV visa and they approved it?
Elías ********
Participante anónimo 343 yes, although technically I didn't send it like sending an email or form, it was scanned in-app following its own instructions.
