TRYING VERY HARD TO EARN 2019 "IDIOT OF THE YEAR" AWARD!

This enquiry is prompted by the new Medical Insurance requirement. I am 69 years old and live in Thailand.

How do I know whether I have an "O", "O-A" or "O-X" Non-Immigration Visa? I have been happily renewing at CW what I simply thought was called a Retirement Visa every year since 2010.

I attach the stamps from my passport together with a screen capture from a visa descriptive page from the UK Thai Embassy.

Thanking you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on distinguishing between 'O', 'O-A', and 'O-X' Non-Immigration Visas, having renewed their retirement visa in Thailand since 2010. According to the comments, the 'O-X' visa was not available in 2010, so the user must check their original visa stamp to determine whether they hold an 'O' or 'O-A' visa. It's important for retirement visa holders to understand these distinctions, especially with new health insurance requirements now in effect.

Okay, listen up. IF you have gotten a new passport since you originally had your first visa, look at the FIRST page of your new current passport. IT will have the original type of visa listed in the stamp transfer on the top of the first page. It will clearly say whether you had an O-A or an O.

It will NOT show on your yearly extensions whether the original visa was an O or an O-A.

And as this is a discussion of the new health insurance requirements, I close commenting and move this post to the MASTER posting for added discussion.

Mine just says O, nothing else

You will have to LOOK at your FIRST original entry into Thailand for retirement. IF it was using an O-A Visa then extended yearly...you will have to meet the new health insurance requirements.

If not with an O-A ...you are NOT required to have health insurance.

You may have to go back to a previous passport to see the original sticker. It is a full page sticker. Mine was "O" obtained in Laos. My new passport has no reference to the original category, that I can see.

That is all that is in my passport. And has been the same every year since 2010. However I have to thank

as, sure enough, I went back to the very first time I applied and there are the magical words 'Non-O'.

You can rule out O-X, as that wasn't a thing in 2010.

Whether you had an O or O-A visa can only be determined by looking at the actual visa you started out with.

Your picture shows no visa, but an extension of stay and a re-entry permit
