Hi, this will be my last question ....I promise!!! Just considering options having read a few recent posts. I currently hold a O-A visa, the first year of my visa ends beginning of January 2020. To avoid the new health insurance requirement for O-A holders, I am considering changing to a non-imm O, based on retirement.....question please

Can I get the non - imm O visa from any Thai embassies outside of Thailand or does it have to be from my home country?

To extend this visa to 12 months based on retirement, what are the requirements other than being over 50 years.

With this visa do I require purchase of re- entry stamp each time I leave the country, and would I need to boarder bounce every 90 days.

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, holding an O-A visa set to expire soon, seeks to switch to a Non-Immigrant O visa based on retirement to bypass new health insurance requirements. They ask if they can obtain this visa from any Thai embassy outside Thailand or exclusively from their home country. They also inquire about extension requirements for the Non-O visa beyond being over 50 years old and the rules regarding re-entry stamps and 90-day border bounces. Responses clarify that the Non-O visa can only be applied for at Thai consulates in nearby locations, outline the necessary documentation for extension, and express that current regulations related to the O-A visa change are still developing.

How about we WAIT a bit until we really know what's what concerning the O-A and getting the second year entry.

The rule has been in effect for less than a week, yet the amount of people who are panicking and going totally overboard is remarkable.

This means you get once 90 days of stay, after 60 days you can apply for the Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age, with the regular copies of passport, id, visa, entry stamp, departure card, copy of notification of stay, map to the house, and the financial requirements of minimum 800.000 Thb 2 months prior the application date until 3 months after the application date and the rest of the year not less than 400.000 Thb in a Thai bank account on your name OR, the income affidavit from your embassy with no less than 65.000 Thb monthly income OR if your embassy does not provide this affidavit, at least 12 months of foreign deposits of minimum 65.000 Thb monthly into your Thai bank account on your name. letters from the bank about the account and the deposits. I hope I did not forget an item, so best is to visit your immigration office in your area as this list is a common list and can differ with any of the over 75 Immigration Offices nation wide

@Robert ******
many thanks Robert. I think it will just be easier and less hassle to buy a Thai health insurance. It hurts as I already have world wide insurance that covers me here but ....'Ce la vie' they are the rules! James gave me some advice on this...once again many thanks.

you can only get the Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years at nearby Thai Consulates
