I have admitted to stay in my Aussie passport until 25 July 2020.

Entered Swampy on OA longstay based on retirement. 25 July 2019.

Can't use OA for second year bcoz of Health Insurance requirements.

So I need to break the chain and exit on or before 25 July 2020.

Then come back in on what? Visa exempt?

Plan A

Can I do this via Penang same day flight?

If granted visa exempt as Aussie passport when should I go to Chonburi immigration to apply for O visa based on retirement?

Do I deposit 800thb in my Thai bank 3 months prior to season? Or is it 2 months prior? Does 800k thb need to come from abroad?

How long do they issue the O visa for within Thailand?

Plan B

Go home to Aus on 25 July 2020

Apply for O visa based on retirement and assuming it is issued can I apply on income method....which I've used on 2 prior OA visas. Or Does the O visa based on retirement still require the 800k in a Thai account?

Please advise as my head is emulating a tumble dryer at the moment with lots of confusing requirements.

More grey hairs for Tod to sort.

Thankyou

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an OA longstay visa in Thailand until July 25, 2020, but cannot use it for a second year due to health insurance requirements. They are considering two plans: Plan A involves exiting Thailand and re-entering on a visa-exempt basis to apply for a Non-O visa based on retirement. They seek clarification on the requirements for the deposit in a Thai bank and the timeline for application. Plan B involves returning to Australia to apply for the Non-O visa, with questions about using income methods versus the required bank deposit.

No matter what you're doing you might as well max the time you got on your entry stamp out and not deal with this until July 2020.

Plan A <- bounce out and back, get a 30 day visa exempt entry, go to Chonburi immigration and immediately apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa. You are NOT gonna be able to use income method unless it's incoming international transfers like I outlined.

Plan B <- going back to Canberra to get a 90 day Non-O.

CONTACT them FIRST and see if they can even issue it before you go back to get it

Thanks Tod...very clear now. How long does the 800k have to be in the Thai bank prior to applying for in country Non-O visa?
Tod *********
okay, unfortunately that issue would have been needed to be corrected BEFORE you entered the country.

I don't know of any way to get it sorted after you stamped in at all. ALl you got was one year entry. Although you could have maxed it out by bouncing out and back before Oct 17th and gotten stamped in until Oct 2020

Be that as it may,

I understand that. I'm not concerned about it. I just want to get An O based on retirement next time.

@James *********
aren't you the one who only got a 90 day Non-O -A visa from them?

This is your visa right?

Okay, let me see if I can get my head around this

What is the "valid until' date on the O-A visa from Canberra?

And what is the "admitted until" date on your current entry stamp.
James **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
But it was supposed to be one year

valid until date 17 October 2019

Admitted to stay 25 July 2020

Unless I'm wrong your consulate stopped issuing affidavits of income from abroad, so if you're going to use monthly income method you need to be transferring into the country 65K baht a month each month EVERY month for the previous 12 months before you're going to apply for your extension.

Canberra can use income method.Thats how I got the OA the last time.

Plan B is just a mix of all kind of requirements and will not work. If you go home, take a look at the Thai Consulate you like to use for the requirements needed.

There are multiple reports that say people CAN and HAVE entered on an O-A visa issued before Oct 31st who were not asked for proof of insurance.

Try it and see, I mean the worst that will happen is you'll get denied entry on the O-A and they'll stamp you in on a 30 day visa exempt entry that you could use to apply for an in country Non-O 90 day visa

My Visa has expired as of 17 Oct 2019

can't do this as visa expired

Plan A. Visit your Immigration Office first for the requirements and see if they can and will convert your Visa Exempt Entry into a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years of age. In theory yes, they are allowed to do this, you need minimum 15 days left on your stay and 800.000 Thb deposited into a Thai bank account from abroad. But as said best is to ask before flying out and back in to find out what is possible. For the flight out and back in same day, there are travel advice pages or offices.

because the embassy in Canberra screwed up and gave me a valid until date of 17 Oct 2019

I didn't catch it until I entered Thailand. So my visa is no longer active.
